DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Aprilia Dorsoduro 900 makes a willing everyday bike, and many owners ride it to work in every season. The riskiest part of those journeys is often the first few minutes on a cold, damp morning, when the tyres have not warmed up and a painted arrow or a manhole cover at a roundabout offers almost no grip. Slides at that moment tend to be slow, but the bike still ends up on its side. For the Dorsoduro 900 of 2017 and 2018, Accossato offers the PF031: front axle sliders in black, made of aluminium and plastic, sold as a pair.
Key Features
- Front axle sliders for the Aprilia Dorsoduro 900, 2017 and 2018
- Accossato front fork protection, part number PF031
- One slider per side, two in total
- Aluminium and plastic in black
- All mounting parts, spacers and screws among them, supplied per Accossato
- Can reduce damage to the lower fork and axle area in a fall
- TP052 crash pads also available for this bike
- No German ABE documented; for track and competition
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato specifies aluminium and plastic for the PF031, finished in black, and packs two of them, one for each side. The kit, the manufacturer says, contains the spacers, the screws and every further part needed to mount them. Their task is modest and practical. When the front of the Dorsoduro 900 meets the road in a slide, the protectors are supposed to be the first point of contact, which can reduce the damage to the fork legs and the axle area. They are not built to last forever, and a worn or cracked one is replaced.
The First Minutes of a Cold Commute
Riders who commute through autumn and winter learn to treat the first stretch of each journey differently. Tyres need a while to reach a temperature at which they grip well, and in cold, wet weather that takes longer. Accelerate gently, brake early and upright, and avoid leaning over painted markings, zebra crossings and metal covers, which are far slipperier than the tarmac around them. Roundabouts deserve extra care, because fuel spilt by turning vehicles tends to collect there. Electronic rider aids are welcome, but no system can create grip where there is none. If a slide happens, let go of the bike and get clear of the traffic before you think about damage. Later, take a close look at the front sliders, the brake lever and the handlebar end, and turn the bars from lock to lock to make sure nothing binds or rubs on the Dorsoduro 900.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list includes the PF031 for the Dorsoduro 900 of 2017 and 2018. In our shop, the same sliders are also linked to the Shiver 900 and the Tuono V4 1100. For the Dorsoduro 900, Accossato adds the TP052 crash pads. Please compare the application list with your bike before ordering, or ask us, particularly if your Dorsoduro 900 was first registered after 2018.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE and no parts certificate for the PF031 in our records. We therefore list it for track days and competition.
