DescriptionThe whole story▼
On a Yamaha YZF-R125, speed is hard to earn and easy to lose. A 125 cc single needs a long time to win back the speed lost to every unnecessary squeeze of the brake lever, so riders who get the most out of the little Yamaha learn to brake precisely rather than hard. Accossato's DK245 is a floating front disc from the Elite line for the YZF-R125 from 2014 to 2021. It measures 292 mm across and 4.5 mm in thickness, equal to the original disc, and its black carrier is joined to the friction ring by rivets that carry the Accossato logo.

Construction and Material Quality
The DK245 belongs to Accossato's Elite line and is built from two parts: a black carrier that bolts to the wheel and a friction ring that meets the pads, connected by rivets bearing the Accossato logo. The manufacturer, founded in 1969 in Moncalieri near Turin, says it pays particular attention to the tolerances and to the clearance between carrier and ring, and that its approach to disc design grew out of racing in Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3. The ring of this disc keeps the thickness of the original, so caliper and pads meet the dimension they were designed around. The minimum working thickness is printed on the disc.
Carrying Speed on a Small Engine
On a short circuit or a kart track, a 125 shows how much of a lap is won in the corners. Every time the front brake takes away more speed than a corner needed, the engine has to win it back, and a small single does that slowly. Riders who are quick on a YZF-R125 tend to brake later but also less, with a smooth squeeze that builds gradually, then ease the lever off as they turn in so that the bike carries its momentum to the apex. That style asks for a front brake that answers small changes in pressure in the same way, lap after lap. This is where the idea behind a floating mount comes in: the ring can expand with heat independently of the carrier, which reduces the tendency of a hot disc to distort and send a pulse back to the lever. Before a track day, make sure disc and pads are clean and that the disc is above its printed minimum, and ride the first laps gently until tyres and brakes have come up to temperature. As a rule of thumb, Accossato suggests a new disc every thirty to forty thousand kilometres, sooner if wear, scoring or cracks show up first.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the DK245 for the YZF-R125 from 2014 to 2021. Its list names the R125 of 2014 to 2019, the version it calls R125 A from 2019 to 2021 and, for 2020 only, the Monster Energy edition. The YZF-R125 has a single front disc, so one DK245 replaces it completely, and no other Accossato disc is listed for this bike. When fitting, clean the hub face and tighten the bolts to the value Yamaha specifies.
Road Approval
The DK245 is not covered by a German ABE, and no type approval has been documented. On a road-registered YZF-R125 it is therefore a part for the circuit, not for public roads.
