DescriptionThe whole story▼
A pulse at the brake lever is a common complaint on a well-used Yamaha MT-09. It shows up as a rhythmic push against the fingers during gentle stops from speed and is often blamed on a warped disc, sometimes rightly. Accossato's DKS073 is a floating front disc for the MT-09, listed from 2013 to 2025 and including the Tracer and Tracer GT. Across the ring it measures 298 mm and the thickness is 5 mm; the black carrier, with its 132 mm bore, is fixed through five 8.5 mm holes on a 150 mm pitch circle.
Key Features
- Floating front disc for the Yamaha MT-09 from 2013 to 2025
- Tracer (2021 to 2023) and Tracer GT (2018 to 2025) on Accossato's list as well
- 298 mm outside, 132 mm inside, 5 mm thick
- Five holes of 8.5 mm on a 150 mm hole circle
- Black carrier
- Directly interchangeable with the original part, says the supplier
- Sold singly; the MT-09 uses two front discs
- No German ABE; for racing and track days
Construction and Material Quality
The DKS073 consists of a friction ring and a black carrier linked by rivets. The carrier is bolted firmly to the wheel; the ring, which the pads clamp, is held in place but allowed to float, so it can expand and shift a fraction sideways without distorting. The supplier describes the disc as interchangeable with the one Yamaha fitted to the MT-09. Accossato says the design of its discs comes out of Moto2, Moto3 and Superbike racing, with close attention to the clearances between ring and carrier, and marks the minimum working thickness on every one.
Tracing a Pulsing Lever
Before blaming the discs, rule out the other causes. Uneven deposits of pad material on the ring produce much the same pulse as a bent disc and often come from holding the front brake on hard while stationary after a fast run. Worn wheel bearings let the whole wheel rock and feel similar at the lever. To check the disc itself, lift the front of the MT-09 on a stand, spin the wheel slowly and watch the gap between the ring and a fixed reference such as the caliper body. A ring that wobbles visibly on a sound wheel is out of true, and a warped disc should be replaced rather than trued. On a floating disc, a little free play at the rivets is normal and not a fault; heavy knocking or a loose ring is. If only one of the two discs is affected, renewing both keeps the front brake balanced.
Fitment and Compatibility
Four entries make up Accossato's list for the DKS073 on this family of bikes: the MT-09 from 2013 to 2021, the later ABS model from 2021 to 2024, the Tracer from 2021 to 2023 and the Tracer GT from 2018 to 2025. The front wheel carries two discs, and each DKS073 is priced individually. The DK077 is Accossato's Elite alternative for these bikes, the same size with the logo on its rivets.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no type approval have been documented for this disc, which is therefore intended for competition and closed tracks.
Scope of Delivery
One DKS073 front disc on a black carrier. The disc for the other side is ordered separately.
