DescriptionThe whole story▼
The second-generation Street Triple 675 arrived in 2013 with a new look and the three-cylinder engine derived from the Daytona 675. Many of these bikes have changed hands more than once and are now well past their tenth birthday, and keeping one in good shape means paying attention to parts that wear slowly. For the Street Triple 675 of 2013 to 2016, the replacement disc on Accossato's list is the DK203, a floating design with a black carrier and a 310 mm friction ring.
Key Features
- Floating front disc for the Triumph Street Triple 675, 2013 to 2016
- 310 mm outer diameter, 82 mm inner diameter, 4 mm thickness
- Interchangeable with the original equipment disc
- Black carrier
- Minimum thickness printed on the disc
- Priced per disc; the Street Triple has two front discs
- No German ABE on record; for circuit use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato builds the DK203 as a floating disc. The friction ring, 4 mm thick, is tied to the black carrier by rivets that permit a small, controlled movement. That movement keeps heat in the ring from distorting the carrier, and it is also why an old floating disc should be checked for rivets that have worn loose over the years. Accossato traces its design to competition in Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3 and describes the DK203 as interchangeable with Triumph's original disc.
Keeping an Older Street Triple Sharp
A Street Triple 675 that is more than ten years old can still ride beautifully, but its brakes will have aged in ways that are easy to overlook. Rubber hoses harden, fluid absorbs moisture, pistons collect dirt behind their seals and discs lose thickness a fraction at a time. The discs are the simplest part to assess. Look for a lip at the outer edge and measure the thickness on the band that the pads sweep. Check the rivets: on a floating disc a slight movement of the ring is normal, but a ring that clunks or shifts visibly is a reason to replace it. On older discs, look closely between the rivet holes for hairline cracks.
If the bike came with an unclear history, treat the whole front brake as one job, with new discs, new pads, cleaned calipers and fresh fluid, so you know exactly where you stand. Accossato recommends changing discs every thirty to forty thousand kilometres, or sooner once they are worn, scored or cracked, and on a Street Triple that has had a busy life the originals may be well beyond that point.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the DK203 for the Street Triple 675 from 2013 to 2016, replacing an original front disc. There are two discs on the front wheel and the price is for one. The Street Triple 675 R of the same period is listed with the same disc. Accossato's levers for this bike include the EDF014, EST333 and LV020.
Road Approval
No German ABE or type approval is on file for this disc. Its use is limited to the track.
