DescriptionThe whole story▼
For many young riders the GSX-R125 is the first real motorcycle: a small single-cylinder with the looks of Suzuki's big superbikes and a size that fits the A1 licence class. It gets ridden daily, often by owners still learning to brake, and it is the bike on which many of them do their first maintenance jobs. For the GSX-R125 of 2017 to 2021, Accossato lists the DK234, a floating Elite disc 290 mm across, as thick as the original disc, with a black carrier.
Key Features
- Floating front brake disc for the Suzuki GSX-R125, 2017 to 2021
- Elite line, same thickness as the original: 4 mm
- 290 mm outer diameter, 190 mm inner diameter
- Rivets with the Accossato logo
- Black carrier
- Minimum working thickness printed on the disc
- One disc covers the front wheel
- No German ABE documented, for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's DK234 keeps the 4 mm thickness of the Suzuki original. Its 290 mm braking ring is riveted to a black carrier with a large inner opening of 190 mm, and every rivet bears the Accossato logo, as on all Elite discs. The ring floats on these rivets, free to expand slightly when it heats. Accossato, founded in Moncalieri near Turin in 1969, says the low weight of its discs aids steering and control, something a light bike makes you feel directly.
A First Bike, a First Disc Change
On a 125 the front disc lasts a long time, but a learner's riding style can shorten its life: brakes held on while rolling downhill, pads run until they squeal, a bike dropped in a car park. When the disc of a GSX-R125 needs renewing, it is a good job to tackle together with someone experienced, because it teaches how the brake works.
You learn how the caliper comes off without the lever being pulled, why the hub surface has to be spotless, and why the bolts go in a crosswise sequence to the torque in Suzuki's manual. You also learn the checks worth repeating: pad thickness through the caliper, the fluid level in the reservoir, the minimum thickness printed on the disc. After the job, the new disc and pads need bedding in with a series of gentle stops. A young rider who understands the front brake uses it with more confidence, and on a bike this light, calm and progressive braking is what keeps the tyre gripping.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the DK234 for the GSX-R125 from 2017 to 2021 and names several versions, among them the ones it labels RL, RLX and XA. The disc replaces the original front disc; the GSX-R125 has one, so a single DK234 is the whole order. Compare the dimensions with those of your present disc before fitting.
Road Approval
The DK234 has no German ABE on file and no documented type approval; we sell it for the track.
