DescriptionThe whole story▼
Suzuki's GSX-R1000 of 2017 to 2022 is a litre superbike with a long racing pedigree, and many are ridden at track days where the front brakes decide, lap after lap, where each corner begins. Consistency matters more there than any single heroic stop. For this generation, Accossato lists the DKS019, a floating Elite disc with a 320 mm ring 5.5 mm thick, a black carrier and the Accossato logo on its rivets.
Key Features
- Floating front brake disc for the Suzuki GSX-R1000, 2017 to 2022
- Accossato Elite line, logo on the rivets
- 320 mm outer diameter, 102.2 mm inner diameter
- Friction ring 5.5 mm thick
- Black carrier
- Minimum working thickness printed on the disc
- One disc per order, two at the front of the GSX-R1000
- No German ABE documented; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
On the DKS019 a black carrier with an inner diameter of 102.2 mm holds a 320 mm braking ring of 5.5 mm by means of rivets bearing the Accossato logo. Ring and carrier are separate, so the ring can expand under heat without distorting the centre. Accossato attributes the effectiveness of its discs to their design, to the careful selection of raw material and to detailed study of the clearance between carrier and ring. Their low weight, Accossato adds, aids steering and control.
The Same Marker, Every Lap
On track, riders pick a reference for each corner (a marker board, a patch on the asphalt or the end of a kerb) and brake at that point lap after lap. The system works only if the brakes respond the same way each time. A disc that has lost thickness heats up faster, the lever travel can grow over a session, and the bike stops a little later from the same marker. The GSX-R1000 rider notices it as a corner that suddenly arrives too quickly.
Keep the variables small: bleed the system with fresh fluid before the track season, check pad thickness before each day and measure the discs regularly against the printed minimum. Between sessions, let the brakes cool with the bike on its stand. When the lever feel changes during a session, come in rather than adapting your markers to a fading brake. A fresh disc and pads, properly bedded in, restore the consistency that makes a braking marker worth having.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the DKS019 for the GSX-R 1000 from 2017 to 2022. It replaces one of the two original front discs; the price is for one, so a complete change needs two. The same disc appears on Accossato's list for the GSX-R1000R of the same years. Compare diameter, centre bore and thickness with your current discs before fitting.
Road Approval
The DKS019 has no documented German ABE or type approval, so it is offered for circuit use.
