DescriptionThe whole story▼
Many Kawasaki Z125 owners buy the bike for the daily ride through town: to school, to work, through traffic that never quite flows. City streets in the rain are full of surfaces with little grip, so the front brake has to be used with feel. Accossato's DK238 is an Elite line floating front disc for the Z125 of 2019 to 2021, 290 mm in diameter with a 130 mm inner diameter and 5 mm thick, the same thickness as the original disc.
Key Features
- Elite floating front disc for the Kawasaki Z125, 2019 to 2021
- 290 mm outer diameter, 130 mm inner diameter
- 5 mm thick, equal to the original according to the supplier
- Black carrier; Accossato logo on the rivets
- Interchangeable with the original equipment disc
- Minimum working thickness printed on the disc
- One disc is enough for the Z125's single front brake
- No German ABE documented; for the track
Construction and Material Quality
The DK238 works on the floating principle. Its braking ring, where the pads bite, sits on a black carrier and is fastened to it with rivets carrying the Accossato logo; this connection lets the ring move very slightly and expand with heat without distorting the carrier. The dimensions are 290 mm outside and 130 mm inside, with a thickness of 5 mm, equal to the disc Kawasaki fits. Accossato says the disc is interchangeable with the original, and it prints the minimum working thickness on it, so it is clear when the disc is used up.
Wet Streets in Town
Rain turns city riding into a matter of reading the surface. Manhole covers, painted lines, tram rails and the polished patches where buses stop offer far less grip than plain tarmac, and the first shower after a dry spell lifts oil and rubber dust to the top. On a Z125, do your braking before you reach such surfaces, not on them, and keep the bike upright while you do it. Use the front brake progressively: a smooth squeeze gives the tyre time to load up, while a sudden grab on a slippery patch can lock the wheel even at low speed.
Wet streets are hard on the disc, too. Water and grit end up between pad and disc and wear both faster than dry roads do. What should never develop is a deep groove or a pronounced edge at the rim; if one appears, measure the disc and compare the reading with the printed minimum. Accossato recommends replacing discs at thirty to forty thousand kilometres, or earlier when they are worn, scored or cracked, and a Z125 that carries its owner through town every day covers distance faster than its size suggests.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the DK238 for the Kawasaki Z125 from 2019 to 2021. The Z125 has a single front disc, so one DK238 is all you need. For the rear wheel of the same bike, Accossato lists the DK271 fixed disc for the same years, and the EDF025 brake lever and ESK025 clutch lever complete its range for the Z125.
Road Approval
The DK238 comes without a documented German ABE and without a type approval. We sell it for use on closed circuits.
