The Kawasaki Z1000 R Edition is the sharper version of the Z1000, with upgraded brakes and suspension, and it attracts riders who like to use them. The use that matters most is the one riders practise least: the emergency stop. Accossato's DK235 is an Elite line floating front disc for the Z1000 R Edition, listed from 2017 to 2023. It is 310 mm across with an 80 mm inner diameter and 5 mm thick, the same thickness as the original, and it comes with a black carrier.

Construction and Material Quality
The DK235 is a floating disc from Accossato's Elite line. Its braking ring and its black carrier are separate parts, joined by rivets that carry the Accossato logo and give the ring a little freedom to move as it heats and cools. Accossato keeps the ring at the thickness of the original disc, 5 mm, and gives the outer diameter as 310 mm and the inner as 80 mm. According to the company, the braking performance of its discs rests on their design, on selected raw materials and on close attention to the fit between ring and carrier.
Practising the Emergency Stop
In a real emergency, riders do what they have practised, and most have never stopped a powerful bike as hard as it can stop. Find an empty, clean stretch of tarmac, ideally at a rider training day, and work up from moderate speeds. Squeeze the lever progressively rather than grabbing it: the first moment loads the front tyre, and only then can it take the full force. Keep your arms firm but not locked, grip the tank with your knees and look far ahead instead of at the ground just in front of the wheel.
On a Z1000 R Edition the front brakes can stop the bike harder than many riders expect, and the rear wheel goes light as the weight moves forward. Use the rear brake gently at the same time. If the ABS steps in on a slippery patch, keep squeezing instead of letting go. Afterwards the discs will be hot, so ride on gently rather than stopping with the brake held on. Check both discs for even wear from time to time, because the stopping power of the whole system depends on them.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the DK235 for the Kawasaki Z1000 R Edition from 2017 to 2023. The bike has two front discs, each DK235 replaces one of them, and a complete change therefore takes two. Accossato's ESK828 clutch lever is also listed for the Z1000 R Edition. Tighten the disc bolts to Kawasaki's specification, then bed the discs in with new pads.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no type approval are documented for the DK235; its use is limited to the track.
