DescriptionThe whole story▼
Sooner or later many owners of a Ducati Panigale V2 S 890 book a first track day, and the front brakes are among the things to prepare for it. Accossato's DKS053 is a floating front disc for this bike, listed for 2025 and 2026, with a 5.5 mm friction ring, a black carrier and five fixing holes of 8.5 mm on a 90 mm hole circle. Accossato says it is interchangeable with the original equipment discs.
Key Features
- Floating front disc for the Ducati Panigale V2 S 890, 2025 and 2026
- 5.5 mm friction ring
- 320 mm outer diameter, 72 mm inner diameter
- Fixing pattern: five 8.5 mm holes on a 90 mm hole circle
- Black carrier
- Interchangeable with original equipment discs, according to Accossato
- One disc per order; the V2 S uses two
- No German ABE documented; for circuit use
Construction and Material Quality
The DKS053 combines a 320 mm friction ring with a black carrier that sits on a 72 mm centre. Rivets join the two and leave the ring free to move slightly with heat, which is the reason floating discs are used where temperatures run high. Accossato gives the ring a thickness of 5.5 mm. The company describes its expertise as coming from Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3 and puts the effectiveness of its discs down to careful design, well-chosen materials and exact clearances between ring and carrier. Each disc is marked with its minimum working thickness.
Before Your First Track Day
A circuit asks more of the front brakes in one session than a week of road riding, so it pays to prepare the Panigale V2 S 890 at home rather than in the paddock. Start with the fluid: brake fluid absorbs moisture over time and then boils at a lower temperature, so fresh fluid of the grade Ducati specifies is a sensible first step. Then look at the pads and measure the discs. If the discs are close to the minimum printed on them, fit new ones now; a track day will finish them off, and Accossato warns that a worn disc can break under extreme stress.
New discs and pads need bedding in before the first session, ideally on the road in the days before, not on the out lap. At the circuit, check the lever before each session and again afterwards, when the brakes are hot. A lever that comes closer to the bar as the session goes on, or a smell of hot pads, is a signal to ease off and let the system cool. Pack a torque wrench, a clean cloth and brake cleaner, and keep anything oily well away from the discs.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the DKS053 for the Panigale V2 S 890 of 2025 and 2026. It is priced per disc, and the V2 S has twin front discs, so plan for two. Compare the fixing pattern of your discs with the figures above before ordering. Accossato also lists the DK053, with a thinner ring, as a front disc for the Panigale V2 S 890.
Road Approval
This disc is sold without a documented German ABE or type approval, for racetrack and competition use.
