DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Ducati Diavel 1260 is built around strong acceleration, and riders who enjoy it ask the front brakes to take that speed away again, often several times on one short stretch of road. Each hard stop turns speed into heat inside the discs. Accossato lists its DKS053 floating front disc for the Diavel 1260 with model years from 2019 to 2022; the disc sits on a black carrier, measures 320 mm across and is 5.5 mm thick where the pads grip.
Key Features
- Floating front disc for the Ducati Diavel 1260, listed for 2019 to 2022
- Diameter 320 mm, thickness 5.5 mm, bore 72 mm
- Five 8.5 mm holes on a 90 mm hole-centre distance
- Black carrier, riveted friction ring
- Replaces the original disc directly, according to the supplier
- Minimum working thickness printed on the disc
- Price per disc; the Diavel 1260 has two at the front
- No German ABE on record, for track use
Construction and Material Quality
On a front disc the heat is made at the ring, where the pads work, and only part of it reaches the centre. On the DKS053 those two zones are separate parts. The black carrier holds the disc on the wheel through five mounting holes of 8.5 mm, spaced on a 90 mm hole-centre distance around a 72 mm bore, and the ring is coupled to it by rivets with a controlled amount of clearance. Accossato says it has studied that clearance in depth, drawing on what it learned racing in Superbike and in the Moto2 and Moto3 classes, and it states that the disc is interchangeable with the part Ducati fitted.
The Stop After the Sprint
Heat turns against a disc when it arrives faster than the disc can get rid of it. A series of hard stops from high speed, with hardly a pause between them, can push the ring to temperatures at which its surface changes colour. A faint straw tint is common. Deep blue, blotchy patches or a surface that feels gritty under the pads tell you the disc has been overworked. After a spirited run on the Diavel 1260, ride the last stretch home gently so the discs can cool in the airflow before you park. Accossato warns that a worn disc can break under extreme stress, and repeated overheating speeds up the wear. Riders who use the brakes this way also get through pads quickly, so look at those whenever you look at the discs.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the Diavel 1260, Accossato's list gives model years 2019 to 2022 for the DKS053. It replaces one of the two front discs, and the price covers one disc. No second Accossato disc appears for this bike, but the EDF099 brake lever does.
Road Approval
This disc is not covered by a German ABE, and no type approval is known for it; we offer it for racetrack and competition use.
Scope of Delivery
