DescriptionThe whole story▼
Hill starts are part of everyday riding on a Kawasaki Eliminator 500. The low, relaxed cruiser is at home in town and on country roads, and in hilly places that means waiting at junctions on a slope, holding the bike still with the rear brake while the clutch starts to bite. Accossato lists the DK271 for the rear wheel of the Eliminator 500 in the 2025 model year. It is a fixed disc in one piece, 220 mm across and 5 mm thick, mounted through three holes of 10.5 mm on a 120 mm circle.

Construction and Material Quality
The DK271 is a fixed disc: friction surface and mounting area are one piece, which the supplier describes as steel-made. It has a 100 mm centre bore and three fixing holes, and it is 5 mm thick. Accossato groups it with its off-road discs, but on the Eliminator 500 it works on the rear wheel of a road cruiser. The company says its discs owe their design to Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3 experience and to careful choice of material, and that low weight helps a motorcycle steer. The minimum thickness is printed on the disc.
Hill Starts at Junctions
The technique is simple once learned. Stop with the right foot on the rear brake and the left foot on the ground, select first gear and let the clutch out slowly until you feel the engine take up the load. Then open the throttle a little and release the rear brake smoothly as the bike begins to pull. The rear brake holds the Eliminator 500 still without the rider having to reach for the front lever while working clutch and throttle at the same time.
This routine loads the rear disc in an unusual way. It is not slowing the bike from speed but holding it against gravity, often many times a day. The wear is modest, yet a brake used like this should work evenly and without grabbing, and a disc with deep grooves or a ridge at the edge makes the holding point less predictable. Check the disc whenever the rear tyre is changed, measure it against the printed minimum and look for scoring from grit. Accossato's advice is to replace its discs after about thirty to forty thousand kilometres, or sooner if they are worn, scored or cracked, whichever comes first.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the DK271 for the Kawasaki Eliminator 500 of 2025 as a replacement for the original rear disc. The bike has a single disc at the rear, so one DK271 is enough. Before fitting, compare the centre bore, the three holes and the diameter with the existing disc, fit fresh pads, and tighten the bolts to the value Kawasaki gives for the Eliminator 500.
Road Approval
The Eliminator 500 is a road bike, but the DK271 has no German ABE and no type approval on record, so it is sold for use on closed tracks.
Scope of Delivery
One DK271 rear disc, without bolts or pads.
