DescriptionThe whole story▼
The S 1000 XR combines an inline four from BMW's superbike with a tall, upright riding position, and owners use it for everything from motorway stints to quick mountain roads. That mix can take its toll on the front discs, and one classic symptom is a lever that pulses under light pressure. Accossato lists the DK007 for the S 1000 XR from 2014 to 2025: a fixed steel front disc, 320 mm across and made in one piece, which Accossato lists with the note that a fitting kit is required.

- Fixed front brake disc for the BMW S 1000 XR, 2014 to 2025
- Listed for both the 2014–2019 and the 2019–2025 bikes
- One-piece disc, steel according to Accossato
- 320 mm outer diameter, 181 mm inner diameter, 5 mm thick
- Accossato lists a fitting kit as required on this bike (not included)
- Minimum working thickness printed on the disc
- One disc per order; the S 1000 XR has two front discs
- No German ABE documented, for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato speaks of in-depth studies of tolerances behind its discs, and of a design and choice of raw material shaped by Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3. For a fixed disc like the DK007, which is a single steel part without a separate carrier, flatness and an even thickness all round the friction ring are what the rider ends up feeling at the lever. The disc measures 320 mm across its outer edge and 181 mm at the centre bore, and it is 5 mm thick through the friction face when new, with the minimum working thickness printed on it.
When the Lever Starts to Pulse
A pulsing lever, often blamed on a warped disc, usually shows up when you slow gently from speed: the lever pushes back rhythmically against your fingers and the front end may shudder slightly. In most cases the disc has not bent in the literal sense. More often its thickness has become uneven around the ring, through deposits of pad material or through wear, and the pads are pushed apart and together once per wheel revolution. Typical causes are holding the front brake hard at a standstill after a hot stop, an uneven bedding-in, or dirt trapped under the disc when it was fitted. A workshop can measure lateral runout with a dial gauge and thickness variation with a micrometer. Mild deposits can sometimes be cleared by a careful bedding-in with fresh pads, but a disc out of tolerance has to be replaced. When fitting a new one to the S 1000 XR, clean the mounting face on the wheel thoroughly so that the disc sits completely flat, and tighten the bolts evenly in a crosswise sequence to BMW's specification.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the DK007 for the S 1000 XR from 2014 to 2025, with separate entries for 2014 to 2019 and 2019 to 2025. No other Accossato disc is named for the XR. Two discs are fitted to the front wheel, and the price shown is for one; measure your current disc before ordering, as the DK007 is 320 mm across.
Road Approval
For the DK007 there is no documented German ABE and no type approval. It is intended for the circuit and for competition.
