The BMW F 850 GS Adventure is built to go further off the beaten track than most riders ever dare, with a big tank and room for luggage on remote routes. Where those routes cross streams or run through mud, the front brakes have a harder time than on any road. For this bike Accossato offers the DK006, a front disc formed in a single piece of steel and, in Accossato's words, interchangeable with the original part. Its listing covers the F 850 GS Adventure from 2019 to 2023.

Construction and Material Quality
In a fixed disc like the DK006, friction ring and mounting flange are one continuous piece of steel. The disc is 5 mm thick and 305 mm in diameter, with a central opening 181 mm across. Accossato explains that careful design and a considered choice of raw material let its discs slow a motorcycle effectively, and that it learned how through racing.
Mud, Water and the Morning After
Riding through water cools a hot disc suddenly and washes grit into the caliper. Mud is worse: it packs around the pads and turns into a grinding paste that removes steel with every stop, while on a loaded F 850 GS Adventure the front brake is also working hard on steep, slippery descents. After a wet day, a few steps are worth the effort. Ride the last stretch with occasional light applications of the brake so the disc dries and sheds the worst of the dirt. In the evening, rinse calipers and discs with clean water if you can find some, and never leave dirt to dry in the caliper overnight. Next morning, check the lever feel before setting off. Later, look for deep scoring, since a groove cut by a trapped stone weakens the ring. A disc that has seen a lot of mud deserves to be measured more often than one that stays on tarmac.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list shows the DK006 for the F 850 GS Adventure from 2019 to 2023 and for the F 850 GS Adventure Edition 40 of 2020 and 2021. It replaces one of the two original front discs; the price is per disc, so both sides need two. Measure your current disc and compare its diameter and thickness with the figures above before fitting.
Road Approval
