DescriptionThe whole story▼
An MT-10 bought to be enjoyed properly often ends up with a few aftermarket touches added in the owner's own garage, from a tail tidy to a new seat, and that kind of home workshop session usually involves the bike resting on a paddock stand for longer than a quick wheel clean would need. A stand left under load for an hour or more, while a fiddly fairing bolt is coaxed loose, carries more risk of slipping than anyone expects at the start of the job. Accossato lists the TP025 crash pads for the MT-10, covering 2016 to 2020.
Key Features
- Crash pads for the Yamaha MT-10, 2016 to 2020
- Accossato TP025, two pads per pack
- CNC-machined aluminium body
- Anodised insert in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
- Matching screw cover available as an option
- PF046 front and PP019 rear axle sliders also listed for this bike
- Ask us before ordering whether drilling is needed
- No German ABE on file; for track and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
The TP025 starts as a block of aluminium, shaped on CNC machines and finished with an anodised insert in one of six colours; a matching screw cover is available as an extra. The pack contains two pads. Positioned near the frame of this bike, they are there to take the first contact if a paddock stand gives way or the bike tips during a long workshop session, which can spare the frame nearby some of what it would otherwise absorb. Once a pad shows a deep scrape, treat it as used up and fit a new one.
A Long Session on the Paddock Stand
Home maintenance rarely goes as quickly as planned, and a stubborn fastener can keep an MT-10 up on its paddock stand far longer than the job should take, with the owner's attention fixed on a single bolt rather than the stand underneath. Over that time, a stand set up on a slightly uneven garage floor can work itself looser, or a tool left underfoot can be kicked against the stand leg without anyone noticing. The longer a bike sits raised, the more chances there are for a slip, and a stand that gives way after an hour drops the bike with no warning at all. Checking the stand periodically during a long job, and clearing the floor around it, both help. If the MT-10 does come down, the crash pads take the first contact; check them before finishing the job.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the MT-10, the TP025 spans 2016 to 2020 on Accossato's list, and we use that same range. The PF046 front and PP019 rear sliders round out the protection on this bike. This same fairing pad also covers the MT-10 SP, the R1 and the R1M in our shop. Drilling is flagged for some unnamed motorcycles in Accossato's catalogue, so check with us before ordering whether it applies to your MT-10.
Road Approval
As no ABE or test certificate has been supplied for the TP025, we list it for racing and competition use.
