DescriptionThe whole story▼
A Monster 1200 R draws attention wherever it is parked, and not only from admirers. Motorcycle thieves often work fast and roughly: they rock the bike off its stand, try to roll it towards a van or wrestle with a lock, and give up when something goes wrong. Owners who find their bike lying on its side the next morning are the lucky ones, but the marks it collected on the way down are still annoying. Accossato's TP080 crash pads for the Monster 1200 R of 2016 to 2018 are CNC-machined from aluminium and carry an anodised insert in a colour of your choice.
Key Features
- Crash pads for the Ducati Monster 1200 R, 2016 to 2018
- Accossato TP080, two in a pack
- CNC-machined aluminium body
- Insert anodised in gold, silver, red, black, green or blue
- Matching screw cover as an option
- Some bikes need the fairing drilled: ask us whether yours does before ordering
- No German ABE documented; for track and competition
Construction and Material Quality
Each TP080 begins as aluminium and is shaped on CNC machines; an anodised insert then gives the pad its colour, with gold, silver, red, black, green and blue to choose from. Whether the pad also gets a screw cover is up to you: Accossato offers it in the colour of the insert, or you leave it off. The pack contains two pads. They are designed to be the first part of the Monster 1200 R to meet the ground when it goes over, which can reduce the damage to the frame and the components close to it. A pad that has taken a heavy blow has done what it was made for, and it is then replaced.
When Someone Else Has Been at Your Bike
Finding the bike knocked over by a would-be thief is unsettling, and the natural reflex is to pick it up and ride away. A few minutes of patience are better spent. Take pictures from several angles first, because the police and the insurer will want them. Then lift the bike carefully and look for the obvious: a forced ignition lock, cut wires under the seat, a damaged steering lock or a bent lever. Examine the pads, the mirrors and the footrests for fresh marks, and look under the bike for leaking fluid. Do not start the engine if anything around the ignition or the wiring has been disturbed. For the future, a lock through the brake disc, a chain to a fixed anchor and a cover all make the Monster 1200 R a less tempting target, and so does parking where people and cameras can see it. A hidden tracker adds a second chance if the bike ever does leave without you.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the TP080 for the Monster 1200 R from 2016 to 2018, and that is how we have linked it. Before you order, please ask us whether the fairing of your Monster 1200 R has to be drilled for these pads: Accossato says this is necessary on some motorcycles, but its list does not identify them. For the same bike, the PF05 front axle sliders are listed for 2016 to 2018 and the PP069 rear sliders for 2016 and 2017. In our shop the pads are also linked to the Monster 821.
Road Approval
The TP080 is not accompanied by a German ABE or a test certificate that we know of, so we offer it for racing and other competition use.
