DescriptionThe whole story▼
On a touring cruiser that has been converted for bagger-style racing, the rear brake has an important stabilising role under hard braking. Accossato's AGPA92 rear pad in its EV2 racing compound, article AGPA92EV2, is catalogued for the Moto Guzzi California Touring ABS 1400 from 2013 to 2017. It is designed for competition use, with the road mixtures of this plate remaining the natural choice for travel.
Key Features
- AGPA92EV2 rear pads for the Moto Guzzi California Touring ABS 1400
- Accossato listing: 2013 to 2017
- EV2 racing compound, one of Accossato's top racing mixtures
- For bagger-style racing and track projects
- Stabilises a heavy chassis under hard braking
- Plate also produced as OR, ST, EV1 and ZXC
- Competition only; no German approval documents
Construction and Material Quality
Top racing compound is how Accossato labels EV2, and that is where its purpose ends and the tourer's usual life begins: the mixture is meant for sessions on a closed track, not for motorway miles with luggage. Behind a big fairing and hard cases, the rear pad on a track-going Touring is asked to steady a tall, heavy chassis while the front sheds speed. Accossato adds that its pads last well, stop hard and resist fade because they are designed not to overheat; it says nothing about ingredients, and we leave it there. The friction layer is fixed to the AGPA92 backing.
Rear Brake on a Racing Bagger
A touring bike with bags and fairing carries a lot of mass high up, and under hard braking the weight transfer is considerable. Riders of these machines often use the rear brake to keep the chassis settled while the front slows the bike. A racing mixture at the rear gives a consistent response to match a racing front setup.
When the bike returns to the road, refit a road compound. Clean the caliper piston when changing and pump the pedal until firm before riding. Read the event rules in advance, too, since some organisers ask for panniers, lights and mirrors to be removed or taped before a heavy tourer is allowed on track.
Fitment and Compatibility
Both catalogue names, California 1400 Touring for 2013 to 2015 and Touring SE for 2016 to 2017, share AGPA92 at the back. AGPA96 is the plate for the twin front calipers, and Accossato sells no disc for this machine. At the rear, one caliper equals one box.
Road Approval
AGPA92EV2 has no ABE or German approval mark in our hands and is offered for racing and competition use.
Scope of Delivery
Two EV2 racing pads in one box, for the rear caliper.
