At the end of a long straight a rider does several things at once: brakes hard, changes down through the box and keeps the machine pointing where it was. The rear brake belongs in that sequence, applied lightly, to stop the back of the bike skipping while the engine takes up the lower gears. Accossato's EV2 racing compound on the AGPA92 rear pad is made for riding of that sort, and the pad is catalogued for the BMW R 1200 RT of 2014 to 2018.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato needs five words for this material: a top racing compound. What that means in practice is a friction layer selected for repeated heavy use rather than for a long, quiet life, sitting on the AGPA92 plate that the rest of the family shares. The firm makes a general claim for its pads that is relevant here, namely that the stopping power stays available because the pads do not overheat themselves. At the rear of a heavy machine that translates into a pedal which gives the same response on the last lap of a session as on the first. The box holds two pads, enough for one caliper.
Down Through the Gearbox
A tidy series of downshifts under heavy braking is harder on a big machine than on a light one. Release the clutch too quickly in a low gear and the rear wheel is dragged towards the engine speed, the back of the bike hops, and on a bike as long and as heavy as an R 1200 RT that hop is felt through the whole chassis. Riders who do this well use two tools: a gentle hand on the clutch as each gear goes in, and a trace of rear brake to keep the wheel settled. It is worth practising somewhere quiet before a circuit day, because it goes wrong most often when you are busy. Keep the pedal low enough to find without looking and high enough that a bump does not press it for you, and check afterwards how much friction material the exercise has cost.
Fitment and Compatibility
The rear wheel of the R 1200 RT is listed for the AGPA92 from 2014 to 2018, with the AGPA177 at the front across the same period. One caliper means one box, and the pads change as a pair. Four other numbers put the milder and the ceramic materials on this plate, so switching later is a matter of ordering differently rather than measuring again. Accossato's disc for the model is the DK007. Look at the disc surface and the fluid whenever the pads are out, and press the pedal until it firms up before the bike moves.
Road Approval
For the AGPA92EV2 no German ABE and no test report exists in our records, and we have no approval mark to show. The part is sold for competition use and for closed circuits.
