DescriptionThe whole story▼
The AGPA92 rear plate is sold in five different materials, and this article number carries the one Accossato calls a top racing compound. It is an odd pairing on paper, because the machine underneath it is a BMW K 1600 Grand America, a six-cylinder tourer built since 2018 to carry two people and a great deal of luggage in comfort. The explanation is straightforward, and so is the advice that goes with it: know what a racing material is drawn to do before you put one on a touring bike.
Key Features
- Rear brake pads for the BMW K 1600 Grand America, 2018 to 2026
- AGPA92EV2: the rear plate carrying Accossato's EV2 racing material
- The manufacturer describes this compound as a top choice for racing
- Identical plate and identical fit to the road materials in the range
- Two pads per box, the complete fill for the rear caliper
- Four other materials cover this plate, including two aimed at everyday use
- The front of the machine takes the AGPA57; the DK007 disc is also catalogued
- No German ABE on record; competition and track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato designs one plate per application and then offers a choice of faces on it, which is why a competition material appears in the list for a luxury tourer: the plate is the same, so the material can be. EV2 racing is the firm's highest entry among the non-ceramic options and it is described in three words rather than a paragraph. Nothing about the pad's shape, thickness of construction or the way it drops into the caliper changes with the material. Two pads come in the box, which is the quantity the rear caliper of this machine accepts.
A Racing Material on a Touring Chassis
Think about what a racing rear pad is drawn around. It spends a session being used in short, deliberate stabs at the entry to hard braking zones, on a machine that weighs very little, with the disc already hot from the previous lap and the rider keeping the back wheel on the ground rather than slowing the bike. Between sessions the whole assembly cools in a garage and is then checked by hand. A K 1600 Grand America asks for the opposite pattern: long, light, frequent applications on a heavy machine, often with a passenger, in weather no race director would send anyone out in. That does not make the pad unusable, but it does mean this article number was designed with somebody else in mind. If your Grand America is used for touring, the materials further down the list were written for you.
Fitment and Compatibility
Mechanically there is nothing unusual here. The AGPA92 shape is catalogued for the rear wheel of the K 1600 Grand America across 2018 to 2026, and this article number is that shape with the racing face. One rear caliper means one box per change, both pads together. The organic and sintered versions on the same plate are the touring choices, the ZXC ceramic racing material is the other competition option, and the front wheel is served by the AGPA57 with the DK007 disc also listed.
Road Approval
We hold no German ABE and no test paperwork for the AGPA92EV2, so nothing here documents it for public roads. Sold for competition and track riding. On a material of this kind, that description reflects its intended purpose as much as it reflects the missing certificate.
Scope of Delivery
A box of two Accossato AGPA92 pads in the racing material, together forming the rear caliper set.
