DescriptionThe whole story▼
When a Yamaha R7 is converted into a race bike, with bodywork swapped and the lights removed, its brakes need to handle repeated heavy stops from speed in timed sessions. Accossato front pad AGPA97 in the EV2 racing compound is designed for that. Accossato lists AGPA97 for the R7 from 2022 to 2026. EV2 is meant for qualifying laps and races, not for the commute.
Key Features
- Front pad AGPA97 in EV2 racing compound
- Accossato fitment: Yamaha R7, 2022-2026
- Accossato calls it a top racing compound
- For repeated heavy braking in competition
- Timed sessions, qualifying and races
- Two pads per box, one caliper
- Same pad in OR, ST, EV1, ZXC
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato describes EV2 as a top racing compound. That is its purpose: competition use, where pads are kept hot and are worked hard at every braking zone. The company's general statements for its pads, low wear, reduced fade through controlled temperature and strong stopping, are passed on as its claims; we have no independent data.
A Race-Prepared R7
On a race-prepared R7, the rider brakes late and hard at every corner, and the front brake must deliver the same response lap after lap. EV2 is designed for that consistency. Bring the pads up to temperature on the out-lap and note the lever feel through the session. Some riders compare EV2 with ZXC during practice to see which suits their style. For road riding combined with track days, EV1 is more practical. A lighter twin-cylinder bike like the R7 rewards precise entry speed, and much of a lap is won or lost in the few metres where the rider releases the lever and turns in. A compound whose bite does not drift as the tyres and track change over a race gives the rider a stable reference for that moment.
Keeping the Brakes Fresh
Racing heats brake fluid more than road riding, so renew it more often during the season. Check the pads after each session and carry a spare set.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists AGPA97 for the YZF 700 R7 from 2022 to 2026. With two front calipers, the R7 needs two boxes for a complete front. Accossato's rear pad for the R7 is AGPP88; discs DK077 and DKS073 are also listed. Clean the pistons before refitting and bed the pads in before timed laps.
Road Approval
There is no ABE and no test documentation for AGPA97EV2 in our records; it is sold for racing and track use.
Scope of Delivery
Two EV2 racing front pads, part AGPA97, for one caliper of the R7.
