DescriptionThe whole story▼
Custom builders sometimes turn an older Triumph Speedmaster into something very different: a stripped-back sprinter, a closed-course racer or a special for timed events. When the machine is built for competition, the brakes must follow. Accossato lists the AGPA72 front pad for the Speedmaster 800 of 2003 and 2004 and the 900 of 2005 to 2015 in its EV2 racing compound, intended purely for racing and timed runs where strong, repeatable stopping matters most.
Key Features
- EV2 racing compound, article AGPA72EV2
- For the Triumph Speedmaster 800 (2003 to 2004) and 900 (2005 to 2015)
- For competition specials and timed events
- Accossato calls it a top racing compound
- Two pads per box, one caliper
- Also available as OR, ST and EV1
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato describes EV2 as one of its top racing compounds. It is designed for the heat and loads of competition, not for commuting. Like the rest of the range, it is engineered for limited wear, controlled heat with reduced fade, and high braking power. Racing materials give their full effect once warm, so the first stops of a session or run should be used to bring them up to temperature.
Building a Competition Special
When a road cruiser becomes a competition machine, the brakes deserve as much attention as the engine. Check that the disc is in excellent condition, that the caliper is clean and the pistons move freely, and that braided lines and fresh fluid are fitted where the rules allow. Fit the EV2 pads, bed them in carefully, and test the brake at increasing speeds before the event. On the day, watch the lever travel between runs and give the brakes time to cool. Keep a record of what works for your Speedmaster.
Fitment and Compatibility
The AGPA72 appears in Accossato's catalogue for the front of the Triumph Speed Master 800 from 2003 to 2004 and the Speedmaster 900 from 2005 to 2015. As one box equips one caliper, count the calipers on your front wheel before ordering. Accossato lists the AGPA76 at the rear for those years and the AGPA29 at the front of the 1200 from 2018. The AGPA72 is also sold as Organic, Sintered and EV1.
Road Approval
We have no ABE and no road approval report for this racing pad. It is sold for racing and closed-circuit use.
