DescriptionThe whole story▼
Hill-climb events on closed mountain roads attract all sorts of machines, and a Suzuki DL1050 V-Strom prepared for competition is a rare but real sight. For such bikes, Accossato lists front pad AGPA109 in its EV2 racing compound for the DL1050 V-Strom from 2020 to 2026 and the V-Strom XT from 2020 to 2024. We describe it as what it is: a racing pad for a specialised use, not a touring pad.
Key Features
- Front pad AGPA109 for the Suzuki DL1050 V-Strom, 2020 to 2026
- Also for the DL1050 V-Strom XT, 2020 to 2024
- EV2 racing compound, article number AGPA109EV2
- Accossato: a top racing compound
- For timed runs and hard, repeated stops
- Only for bikes prepared for competition
- ST, EV1 and ZXC also offered
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato counts EV2 among its top racing compounds. It is designed for the loads of competition, where a heavy bike must stop hard many times in quick succession. Accossato's history in motorsport goes back to an enduro world title for its riders in 1985, and the firm credits its pads with low wear, controlled heating and high stopping power.
Timed Runs Up a Mountain
A hill-climb is a series of timed runs on a closed road, with hairpins, fast straights and hard stops. The front brakes of a DL1050 V-Strom work at their limit on every run, and the downhill return to the start adds more heat.
A racing compound is built for that duty. It is not intended for cold road riding, so fit it only to a bike used for competition, and switch back to a road compound afterwards.
Between runs, check the fluid, look at both front calipers and let the brakes cool. Make sure the ABS settings are as the organisers require.
Hill-climb paddocks are often on a slope or a car park, so chock the bike securely before working on the brakes, and never leave a caliper hanging from its hose.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists AGPA109 at the front of the DL1050 V-Strom 2020 to 2026 and the V-Strom XT 2020 to 2024, with AGPP148 for the rear caliper. Two front calipers mean two boxes. Bed the pads in with progressively firmer stops before the first timed run.
Road Approval
We do not hold an ABE or German approval for this compound. It is sold for track and competition use.
Scope of Delivery
Two EV2 pads for one front caliper.
