DescriptionThe whole story▼
Some Kawasaki Z800s have been stripped of their lights and number plates and turned into dedicated track machines for naked-bike classes and club racing. For those bikes Accossato offers the AGPA38 front pad in its EV2 racing compound, listed for the Z800 and the Z800 ABS from 2013 to 2016. EV2 racing is built for timed sessions and races, where the front brake must bite hard at every braking marker and keep doing so until the chequered flag.
Key Features
- EV2 racing compound for the front calipers
- Kawasaki Z800 and Z800 ABS, 2013 to 2016
- Designed for race weekends and timed practice
- Steady response through repeated heavy stops
- Heat build-up kept low to limit fade
- Two pads per box, one caliper
- Also available in ST, EV1 and ZXC versions
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato calls EV2 racing a top racing compound. It is intended for bikes whose weekends are spent in a paddock rather than on a commute. Accossato, which won an enduro world title in 1985, also builds its pads for low wear, long life and restrained heat build-up, which keeps the front brake working consistently through practice, qualifying and races.
Racing a Four-Cylinder Naked
The Z800 on track is a heavy bike with plenty of power, and the front pads have to take a lot of energy out of it at the end of each straight. EV2 racing is designed for that load across an entire weekend. Use the first practice to bed in fresh pads and set your braking markers, then refine them in qualifying. Between sessions, check pad wear and look for any lengthening of the lever, which can point to fluid that has been overheated. Carry a spare set of pads in the pit box so a change can be made quickly if needed.
Fitment and Compatibility
These pads are listed for the front of the Kawasaki Z800 from 2013 to 2016, including ABS models (Accossato: Z 800 2013-2016 and Z 800 2013-2016 ABS). The Z800 has two front calipers, so you need two boxes. Accossato lists the AGPP185 rear pad for 2013 to 2016 and the AGPP89 for 2016 to 2019 ABS bikes, along with the DK235 disc. The AGPA38 is also offered as ST, EV1 and ZXC.
Road Approval
As no ABE or test mark is available for these pads, they are sold for racing and competition use.
