DescriptionThe whole story▼
Timed laps put the front brake under a microscope. A tenth gained at the end of a straight is often a matter of trusting the pads to stop the bike a little later, and doing it again on the next lap. For the Honda CBR 600 RR of 2018 to 2026, Accossato lists the AGPA250 front pad, and its EV2 racing mixture is the version for riders who enter the later supersport in sprint races, endurance rounds or time attack sessions.
Key Features
- Front pads for the Honda CBR 600 RR of 2018 to 2026
- Article AGPA250EV2 in Accossato's EV2 racing mixture
- The company describes EV2 as one of its top racing compounds
- For time attack, sprint races and endurance stints
- Uses the AGPA250 plate of the later generation
- Two calipers up front, so two boxes are needed
- ST, EV1 and ZXC are available on the same plate
- No German ABE on file; for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
For the newer CBR 600 RR Accossato presses its EV2 material onto the AGPA250 plate and calls it a top racing compound. The pad is meant to work at the temperatures a race bike reaches after several hard laps and to give the rider confidence at the braking marker. The plate is shared across all versions of the AGPA250, so the switch from a road pad to this one involves nothing more than the friction material and a proper bedding-in.
Chasing Tenths into Turn One
A sprint race is short, but the brakes work harder in those laps than in a month of road riding. Every corner entry is a full stop from high speed, and the rider needs the lever to feel identical on lap one and on the final lap. EV2 is made for exactly that job. In an endurance stint the requirement is similar but stretched over hours, and the pad has to stay predictable as the fuel load drops and the tyres wear.
Keep a record of pad thickness after each session and change both front sets together. Race fluid should be fresh for every event. Clean the pistons before pushing them back, keep brake cleaner away from the tyres and bed in new pads during the first practice with a few laps of gradually harder stops.
Fitment and Compatibility
The AGPA250 is listed for the Honda CBR 600 RR of 2018 to 2026. Bikes from 2005 to 2018 use the AGPA108, which makes 2018 the year where a quick look at the fitted pad is worthwhile. The rear takes the AGPP39 across 2007 to 2026. The front has twin calipers, so a full change needs two boxes.
Road Approval
No ABE or German test certificate has been supplied to us for the AGPA250EV2, so it is offered for racing and competition use.
Scope of Delivery
The box holds two AGPA250 pads in EV2 racing mixture for one caliper. Two boxes cover the front of the CBR 600 RR.
