DescriptionThe whole story▼
Standing-start events attract a certain kind of XDiavel Dark owner. The long wheelbase and the low seat make a launch less of a gamble than it would be on a sports bike, and a strip of closed tarmac with a timing beam at the end of it flatters the machine. What follows every run, though, is a shutdown area that arrives quickly. For 2024 Accossato lists the AGPA177 front pad in its EV2 racing material as article AGPA177EV2; the factory introduces the mixture simply as a top racing compound.
Key Features
- Front brake pads for the Ducati XDiavel Dark, 2024 model year
- Article AGPA177EV2: the AGPA177 outline with the EV2 racing material
- Accossato positions the mixture at the competition end of its pad range
- Aimed at closed-course work rather than at the commute
- Two front calipers on this Ducati, so two boxes complete the axle
- Rear cover for the same bike comes from the AGPA92, 2022 to 2024
- Also pressed in ST, EV1 and ZXC for less specialised use
- No German ABE recorded; sold for racing
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato spends few words on this material, and the ones it uses are all about competition. A racing mixture is drawn up for the demands of an event rather than for the first junction of a cold Tuesday, and it expects a rider who understands that the first application of the day is not the one it was designed around. The plate underneath is the ordinary AGPA177 carrier, identical across the suffixes, which means the choice is made entirely at the friction surface and not at the mounting. High stopping power and a reluctance to fade under repeated heat are what the company claims for its pads; an event weekend is where both statements get tested honestly.
After the Standing Start
The run itself asks nothing of the brakes. Everything happens afterwards, in the length of tarmac between the beam and the turning at the end of it, and on a heavy machine that stretch always feels shorter than it looked from the start line. The front of the XDiavel Dark has to take almost all of the deceleration, both calipers at once, several times in an afternoon with only the queue to cool them down. That pattern of one enormous application followed by a wait is exactly the rhythm a racing material is drawn for.
It is also a rhythm that rewards preparation. Look over the pads and the disc faces between rounds rather than at the end of the day, keep the fluid fresh in a bike used this way, and replace both sides together so the two calipers never work with material at different stages of its life. Away from an event the same pads spend their time on ordinary roads, where a racing mixture asks for more patience in the first minutes than most road compounds do. Ride the opening part of the journey accordingly and leave larger gaps than usual.
Fitment and Compatibility
The entry Accossato holds for this bike at the front covers the 2024 XDiavel Dark alone. Owners of an earlier machine will find the AGPA92 at the rear instead, catalogued from 2022 through to 2024, while the disc list for the model names the DKS053. Because a box contains the set for one caliper and this Ducati carries two at the front, a full change is a pair of boxes; mixing this material on one side with something else on the other is not worth the saving. Order against the article number, since the same pad outline turns up under bikes that share nothing else with a cruiser.
Road Approval
Nothing in the way of an ABE or a German test report exists in our records for the AGPA177EV2. The pads are sold for racing and for closed circuits.
Scope of Delivery
A box with two AGPA177 pads in the EV2 racing material, which is one caliper's worth. The front of an XDiavel Dark takes two such boxes.
