DescriptionThe whole story▼
Accossato's catalogue has a point where road riding stops being the subject, and the AGPA177EV2 sits there. It is the same AGPA177 front pad the Ducati Multistrada 1200 of 2015 and 2016 takes in its other guises, pressed this time in the EV2 racing material, which the company introduces in half a dozen words as a compound for racing. Nothing in that sentence is aimed at a commute. It speaks to riders who book circuit time, run sessions one after another and want the front of the bike to behave on the last lap as it did on the second.
Key Features
- Front pads for the Ducati Multistrada 1200, 2015 and 2016
- AGPA177EV2: the AGPA177 carrier pressed in the EV2 racing material
- Accossato places this compound at the competition end of its pad range
- Chosen for circuit sessions rather than for the journey to work
- Two front calipers on this machine, so a complete change takes two boxes
- Two pads to a box, the pair for a single caliper
- ST, EV1 and ZXC share the very same carrier
- No German ABE on record; sold for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
The factory says little here, and what it does say is a classification rather than a description: a racing compound, placed above the street articles of the same family. A short claim deserves careful reading. It tells you where Accossato thinks the material belongs and leaves the rest to the rider, which is the fair way round, since a compound meant for sessions is judged on how it behaves after repeated heavy work and not on the first stop of the morning. Everything below the friction layer is the familiar AGPA177 plate, so the change lies entirely in what touches the disc.
Sessions That Run Back to Back
Circuit time arrives in blocks, and the blocks come round whether the motorcycle has cooled or not. Twenty minutes out, half an hour in the paddock, twenty minutes out again. During the first of those the front of a Multistrada 1200 does something it never does on the road: hard, deliberate stops from high speed at the same two or three points on the lap, over and over, with a straight in between that is far too short to shed much heat. What a rider notices, if anything is going to go wrong, is the lever creeping a little nearer the bar as the session wears on.
The half-hour in the paddock is not idle time. Put the bike on its stand and look through the mouth of each caliper at what is left of the friction material, because a set that looked healthy on Saturday morning can be marginal by Sunday lunchtime at that rate of work. Keep chain lubricant and any aerosol away from the front discs. And if the last lap out was a hard one, ride the next one gently instead of rolling into the pits with everything at its hottest.
Fitment and Compatibility
Years first: 2015 and 2016, the base Multistrada 1200, front axle. Each of the two front calipers takes a set of its own, so the quantity is two. The S variants of those seasons form a separate entry with a separate article number and are not covered here. For the back of the bike Accossato offers the AGPA29, whose listing runs on past the years given for this front pad, and the DKS053 appears in the disc programme for the model. Hold the old pad against the new one before fitting; it remains the quickest check there is.
Road Approval
Neither an ABE nor a German test report exists in our files for the AGPA177EV2. We sell it for competition, which in practice means closed circuits and organised events.
Scope of Delivery
A box of two AGPA177 pads in the EV2 racing material, the set for one caliper. Two boxes cover the front of the Multistrada 1200.
