DescriptionThe whole story▼
A race is settled in the last third of it, when the tyre has given away its opening sharpness and everybody is tired. The front brake is part of that story, because the rider who still trusts the lever on lap fourteen can defend a line somebody else has stopped attacking. Accossato's EV2 racing compound on the AGPA291 pad is the material the firm offers for that end of the sport, fitted to the front of the BMW S 1000 RR of 2021 to 2026.
Key Features
- Front pads for the BMW S 1000 RR of 2021 to 2026 in the EV2 racing compound
- Article number AGPA291EV2
- Accossato describes the mixture as a top racing compound
- For races, qualifying and hard circuit work
- Two pads per box, one front caliper's set
- The EV1 material is the other option on this plate
- Other front pads for the model are the AGPA55, AGPA252 and AGPA884
- No German ABE in our files; competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato puts two materials on the AGPA291 plate, one for road and amateur circuit use and this one for racing, which the firm sums up in half a dozen words. Behind that brevity lies the usual division in a pad range: a competition mixture is drawn for a narrow set of conditions and asked to hold its character within them, rather than to be agreeable in every other situation as well. The plate itself does not change, so the pad sits in the caliper exactly as its sibling does. One box covers one caliper, and the S 1000 RR needs two of them at the front.
The Closing Laps
Long runs are where a brake shows its temper. In the opening laps almost anything works, since the pads are fresh out of a cool pit lane and the rider is still being careful. By two-thirds distance the disc has been through a dozen heat cycles in twenty minutes, the tyre is moving around under deceleration, and the lever has become the main source of information about what the front of the bike is doing. What a rider wants at that point is not more stopping power but the same stopping power as before. Teams that do their long runs in testing learn this cheaply; those whose first full-distance run is a race learn it expensively. It also pays to change pads on a planned schedule rather than when somebody notices the material has almost gone, and to write down which sessions each set has done.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGPA291 at the front of the BMW S 1000 RR from 2021 to 2026. The AGPA884 appears in overlapping years, so check the shape against the pad currently in the caliper, and remember that the AGPA252 covers 2019 to 2021 and the AGPA55 the machines of 2009 to 2018. Two front calipers mean a pair of boxes for a complete change, and a race bike deserves both sides renewed at once. At the rear the AGPP91 runs from 2009 to 2024, and the discs Accossato records for this model are DK006 and DK007.
Road Approval
No German ABE or comparable document exists for the AGPA291EV2 in our records. It is sold as what it is, a competition part for closed circuits.
