DescriptionThe whole story▼
Competition rewards riders who can slow a motorcycle later than the person beside them and still turn it into the corner. That is a skill, but it also depends on hardware that gives the same answer every single time the lever is pulled. Accossato's EV2 racing compound on the AGPA177 pad is the firm's top competition material, and it is catalogued for the BMW S 1000 XR of 2015 to 2026, a machine with the engine and the geometry to be genuinely quick on a circuit.
Key Features
- AGPA177EV2: the AGPA177 front pad in the EV2 racing compound
- Listed for the BMW S 1000 XR across the 2015 to 2026 model years
- Accossato presents this mixture as the top of its competition range
- For riders working to braking markers rather than to traffic
- Two pads per box, being the set for a single caliper
- The XR runs two front calipers, so a complete change needs two boxes
- The ST, EV1 and ZXC materials are available on the same plate
- No German ABE on file; sold for racing and closed circuits
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato describes this material in four words: a top racing compound. Everything that matters about it follows from where it is meant to be used. It is drawn for heat, for firm and repeated application, and for a rider who knows in advance exactly how much lever a given corner will take. Mixtures of this kind ask to be worked; treated gently on a cold morning they can feel unrewarding, and that is not a fault but a consequence of the brief. The plate underneath is the same AGPA177 that carries the other materials in the range, so the only thing you are choosing here is character.
Late to the Marker
A slow corner at the end of a long straight is where races are decided and where pads are ruined. The rider arrives carrying everything the bike will give, picks a board, and asks the front brake for an enormous reduction in speed inside a very short distance, with the rear wheel light and the fork fully compressed. Then it happens again next lap. What separates a racing material from a fast road one is not the first of those stops but the twelfth, when the discs are glowing and a lesser mixture has begun to hand back some of its grip. A rider learns to trust the lever and brake by feel, which is only possible when the response does not drift. On an S 1000 XR, remember that the machine is heavier than the supersports around it, so the pads are doing more work per lap than a glance at the timing screen suggests. Look at them between sessions, keep a second set to hand, and give the discs an honest inspection while you are there.
Fitment and Compatibility
The AGPA177 is catalogued for the front of the BMW S 1000 XR from 2015 to 2026. Because the model ran for many seasons and the list also names the AGPA252 as a front pad for part of that span, compare the pad you remove with the one you are fitting rather than relying on the year alone. One box serves one caliper, this bike has two of them at the front, and the sides are renewed together. The AGPP97 covers the rear wheel over the same years, with DK007 as the disc in the catalogue.
Road Approval
We hold no German ABE for the AGPA177EV2 and no test certificate, so there is nothing here that would support its use on public roads. It is supplied for racing.
Scope of Delivery
