DescriptionThe whole story▼
Sports tourers turn up at track days in greater numbers than their brochures suggest. A BMW R1250RS has the fairing, the stability and the seat to make a session pleasant, and once the rider finds a rhythm the front brake is doing serious work every few seconds. Accossato's EV2 racing compound on the AGPA177 pad is built for that, a material the company calls a top racing compound, and it is listed for the RS of 2019 to 2024.
Key Features
- AGPA177EV2: front pads in the EV2 racing compound
- For the BMW R1250RS, model years 2019 to 2024
- Accossato describes the material as a top racing compound
- Drawn for circuit work rather than for touring
- One box contains two pads and serves one caliper
- Two boxes are needed to renew the front axle
- ST, EV1 and ZXC are the other materials on this outline
- No German ABE on record; competition part
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato splits its friction materials by intent, and EV2 racing carries the plainest label of the lot: a compound for racing. On a circuit a pad turns a great deal of energy into heat over and over with barely a pause, and the property that counts is that the heat stays within limits, since that is what keeps the lever where the rider expects to find it. Nothing about the shape differs from the other AGPA177 articles, so the caliper does not know which material it is holding until the session starts. Two pads per box, one caliper per box.
Hard Stops, Lap After Lap
A track session compresses a month of road riding into twenty minutes. The same corner comes round every minute and a half, the rider sheds a great deal of speed each time, and neither pads nor discs get a proper chance to cool in between. Under that treatment a road material eventually softens, the lever creeps towards the bar, and the rider starts slowing earlier without quite deciding to. A racing compound pushes that point further away, though nothing removes it altogether. Sensible practice fills the gap: come in when the feel changes rather than when the flag comes out, check the fluid before the day starts, and look at how much material remains after every second session rather than trusting a glance in the morning.
Fitment and Compatibility
The list for this article number runs from 2019 to 2024 on the R1250RS, and the entry says nothing about any other boxer. Because each front disc has a caliper of its own, two boxes make a complete change, and both sides should be renewed in one go so the wheel is gripped evenly. For riders whose year is mostly spent touring, the ST and EV1 materials on this shape are the sensible alternatives. At the back of the RS the AGPA92 does the work, and the DK006 is Accossato's disc for the model.
Road Approval
We have no German ABE for the AGPA177EV2 and no examination certificate. It is supplied for competition and closed-circuit riding only.
