DescriptionThe whole story▼
Retro twins turn up at club events more often than the catalogues suggest. A BMW R nineT Racer with the mirrors off and tape over the lights is a familiar sight in a paddock, and once the timing beam is switched on, its front brake starts a harder life than any road can give it. Accossato's EV2 racing compound is the hardest of the road-shaped materials it offers on the AGPA96 pad, and it is catalogued for the Racer of 2017 to 2020. This article number is that compound alone.
Key Features
- EV2 racing compound on the AGPA96 front pad, ordered as AGPA96EV2
- Fits the front wheel of the BMW R nineT Racer, 2017 to 2020
- Accossato's own label for the material is a top racing compound
- Fade is held off because the material limits how far it heats up
- Contents of one box: two pads, one caliper's requirement
- Gentler choices on the same shape are OR, ST and EV1
- Accossato records the model as the R 1200 nine T Racer
- Neither a German ABE nor other approval papers exist here; competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's own words for this material are as plain as its name: a top racing compound. It sits at the hard end of the AGPA96 range, meant for brakes that are worked repeatedly with no pause in which to cool, and it resists fade by keeping its own temperature in check rather than by sheer bulk. An R nineT Racer is no lightweight, its boxer sits low and wide and the machine carries a fair amount of metal, so the front brake has real momentum to deal with each time. The pair of pads in the box covers one caliper.
Heat That Never Leaves the Front End
On the road a front brake is given plenty of rest. Villages, junctions and long open stretches let the discs cool, and the hardest stop of a day is usually a single event you remember afterwards. A circuit removes those pauses. The same marker board arrives every ninety seconds, the bike is hauled down from its highest speed of the lap each time, and by the middle of a session the whole front end is hot and stays hot. Softer materials start to protest at that point: lever travel grows, the bite arrives later than the rider has planned for, and confidence in the braking zone goes with it. A hard compound trades away some of its cold manners to avoid that. Look after it in return. Bed a new set in properly before you need them, finish a session with a cooling lap instead of coasting into the pits with the lever held, and check what is left on the pads before the next one.
Fitment and Compatibility
The listing runs from 2017 to 2020 on the front of the R nineT Racer, entered by Accossato as the R 1200 nine T Racer, and covers no other years. How many boxes a full change takes depends on the number of calipers on your front wheel, because each box fills one. For the rear of the Racer the catalogue offers the AGPA29, and the DK006 is the Accossato disc for this machine.
Road Approval
No documentation of any approval for these pads has reached us, the German ABE included. They are sold as competition parts for use away from public roads.
Scope of Delivery
A box of two AGPA96 pads in the EV2 racing compound, sufficient for one caliper.
