DescriptionThe whole story▼
The hardest thing you can do to a front brake is not one violent stop but forty moderate ones with no gaps in between. A laden F 850 GS coming off a high pass does exactly that, and so does the same machine on a circuit. Accossato's EV2 racing compound is the hardest material it offers on the AGPA92 pad, and this article number brings it to the front of the BMW F 850 GS of 2018 to 2023.
Key Features
- EV2 racing compound on the AGPA92 front pad, ordered as AGPA92EV2
- Covers the BMW F 850 GS, model years 2018 to 2023
- Accossato's own description: a top racing compound
- Resists fade by limiting how hot the material itself becomes
- A box holds two pads and equips one caliper
- Milder choices on the identical plate: OR, ST, EV1 and ZXC
- AGPP91 is the rear pad for the same span of years
- No approval papers of any kind on file; racing part
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's phrase for this material is a top racing compound, and the property that matters is how it behaves once everything around it is hot. The firm's claim is that it holds fade off by limiting how far its own temperature rises rather than by carrying extra material. That is a racing argument, but it transfers neatly to a heavy machine on a long descent, where the brake is given no chance to cool between one hairpin and the next. This is the standard AGPA92 plate with the hardest of the available mixtures on it, and a box equips one caliper with two pads.
A Front Brake That Never Gets to Cool
Coming down from a high col with luggage is the most demanding half hour a touring front brake ever faces. The bends arrive in quick succession, the gradient keeps pushing, and the bike weighs what it weighs whether you like it or not. Heat gathers in pads and discs, and since the next corner is never more than half a minute away it simply stays there. The first sign that something is giving ground is usually the lever, which begins travelling a little further for the same result. Experienced riders head that off instead of reacting to it. They let the engine do more of the work by staying a gear down, they take the speed off in short firm applications rather than leaning on the lever continuously, and they pull in at a viewpoint partway down a long descent, which is time well spent for the machine as much as for the view. A material intended for racing has that reserve designed into it, and it still asks to be bedded in properly before anyone relies on it.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGPA92 for the front wheel of the BMW F 850 GS between 2018 and 2023. Each box holds a caliper's set, so a front end with two calipers takes two boxes, and both should carry identical material. Riders wanting something less severe will find the same shape as OR, ST, EV1 and ZXC. The AGPP91 serves the rear of the F 850 GS across 2018 to 2023, and DK006 is the disc in Accossato's catalogue for this bike.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE for the AGPA92EV2 and not a single approval document in our files, so it is sold for racing and for riding on closed circuits.
Scope of Delivery
