DescriptionThe whole story▼
Qualifying is the shortest, meanest part of a race weekend. The session opens, the pit lane empties, and everything a rider has learned since Friday has to be spent in a handful of laps while the grid order is decided around them. Accossato supplies the AGPA112 pad in its EV2 racing material for riders who spend their Leoncino 800 that way, and lists it for the front wheel of the Benelli Leoncino 800 in the 2022 and 2023 model years.
Key Features
- Front pads for the Benelli Leoncino 800 and Leoncino 800 Trail, 2022 and 2023
- Article number AGPA112EV2: the AGPA112 shape in the EV2 racing material
- Accossato ranks this mixture at the top of its competition range
- Each box contains two pads, the set a caliper is fitted with
- Work out how many calipers your front wheel has before ordering boxes
- The same shape is also produced in the OR, ST, EV1 and ZXC materials
- Bikes of 2020 and 2021 use the AGPA177 shape; the rear runs the AGPA42
- No German ABE available; sold strictly for competition and circuit riding
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato puts the EV2 racing mixture at the head of its competition materials, and the word it uses of it is exactly that: racing. Everything about the choice follows from where it is meant to be used. A material chosen for a session of flat-out laps is asked for high stopping power and for resistance to the fading that follows when a front brake is worked repeatedly and never allowed to cool, and it is not asked to be gentle on a cold Tuesday in traffic. The AGPA112 outline it fills is the front shape for the later Leoncino 800, supplied in pairs, a caliper at a time.
Ten Minutes to Find a Lap
A qualifying run has a shape to it. The out lap is spent putting temperature into tyres and brakes without throwing the bike away in front of the whole paddock. The second lap is honest but unhurried. Then two or three laps are all that really count, and on each of them the entry to the slowest corner arrives with the rider's eyes fixed on a board, a kerb or a crack in the tarmac that they chose as their marker on Friday. What they need from the front brake is that the same pull at the same point produces the same result, lap after lap, because a marker is worthless if the bike behaves differently each time it passes.
That is why riders talk about consistency long before they talk about outright grip. If the pads answer a little later on lap four than they did on lap two, the marker has to move, and a rider busy moving markers is not a rider finding time. Take the guesswork out where you can: start the session with material you know the history of, look at both sides of the front wheel in the pit lane before the session and again as soon as you are back in, and note in your book how far the set has gone. Do not start a qualifying run intending to change pads halfway through the afternoon.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list covers the front wheel of the Leoncino 800 of 2022 and 2023 with the AGPA112, together with the Leoncino 800 Trail of those two years. The 2020 and 2021 machine uses the AGPA177 instead. Order one box per caliper, fit both sides at the same time so that the wheel is braked evenly, and plan for a spare set in the van if you are racing rather than simply riding. At the rear, the AGPA42 covers 2020 to 2023, and the Accossato disc range contains nothing for the Leoncino 800.
Road Approval
The AGPA112EV2 comes to us without approval paperwork, and no German ABE has been granted for it. It belongs on a closed circuit and is offered for competition use only.
