DescriptionThe whole story▼
The first-generation RSV4 has aged into a fine club racing machine. Bikes that were registered for the road in 2009 now run stripped of their lights, and the paddock at any national meeting has a few of them under awnings. A race, though, is decided in its last third, when the tyres have lost their edge and concentration has become expensive. Accossato's AGPA106 front pads for the Aprilia RSV4 Factory of 2009 to 2011 and 2013 to 2016 are offered in the EV2 racing compound.
Key Features
- EV2 racing front pads for the Aprilia RSV4 Factory, 2009 to 2011 and 2013 to 2016
- Catalogued by Accossato for the RSV4 1000 Factory and the RSV4 1000 Factory APRC
- Reference AGPA106; one box per caliper, and two calipers sit at the front of this Aprilia
- Accossato ranks EV2 racing as a top racing compound within its pad programme
- Sintered, EV1 and ceramic versions of the same pad are listed too
- Rear pads for the same bike: Accossato AGPA42
- Accossato disc reference for this model: DKS032
- No German ABE or test mark held; racing and competition only
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's account of EV2 racing amounts to a single line, a top racing compound, and the intended use follows from it. This is material for a machine braked hard from the opening lap to the final one, with no allowance made for cold running and no interest in silence. The company builds its friction materials so that heat rises in a controlled fashion rather than all at once, and over a race distance that is the property a rider actually feels: the point at which the pads take hold does not wander as the laps accumulate. Fitted to the front of an RSV4 Factory, two calipers' worth at a time, such a compound belongs with fresh fluid and discs that still have plenty of life left.
The Last Third of a Race
Anyone who has finished a club race knows how different the closing laps feel. The rear tyre no longer gives what it gave, the arms are tired, and the temptation is to make up the deficit under braking, because that is the one place where effort still seems to pay. It does pay, but only while the brake behaves exactly as it did on lap two. A pad whose bite point has moved forces the rider to reinterpret every corner at the moment they are least able to.
Preparation is what buys that consistency. Fit new pads early enough to bed them in during a session rather than on the way to the grid, check the fluid at home rather than at the circuit, and look at the discs of an older machine with particular care, since a bike first registered in 2009 may be on its third set by now. Write down how the lever felt at the end of each session; across a season those notes will tell you a fresh set is due before the brake gets around to it.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGPA106 against the RSV4 1000 Factory for 2009 to 2011 and against the APRC version for 2013 to 2016. The catalogue skips 2012, and we have not filled that gap in. One box serves one caliper; the front of an RSV4 Factory needs two, changed as a pair so the bike pulls up straight. The rear is looked after by the AGPA42 across the same years, and the DKS032 is the Accossato disc for this machine.
Road Approval
No German ABE or test mark accompanies this compound in our records, so it is sold for racing and competition purposes.
Scope of Delivery
Two AGPA106 pads in EV2 per box, which is one front caliper's worth.
