DescriptionThe whole story▼
Racing on fifty-cc machines has produced a remarkable number of good riders, and the bikes are prepared every bit as seriously as the large ones. An RS4 50 entered in a club series spends its weekend in heats and finals with the front brake under hard, repeated use. Accossato's AGPA32, catalogued for the Aprilia RS4 50 from 2011 to 2021, comes in the EV2 racing compound for bikes that go out under a start light rather than into traffic.
Key Features
- Accossato EV2 racing front pads for the Aprilia RS4 50, model years 2011 to 2021
- Part number AGPA32, delivered as a pair for one caliper
- Intended for race weekends: timed practice, heats and finals
- Accossato calls this a top racing compound within its pad programme
- Also produced in organic, sintered, EV1 and ceramic versions of the same pad
- Accossato lists the AGPA142 as an alternative front pad for 2012 to 2019
- Rear pads for the RS4 50: Accossato AGPA258
- No German ABE or test mark on file; racing and competition use only
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato places EV2 racing at the sharp end of its pad list and describes it plainly as a top racing compound, with no attempt to steer it towards road use. That tells you where the material is meant to work: in the repeated, hard applications of a race, where a pad comes up to temperature within a lap and is then held there. The firm's general engineering aims still apply, above all the effort to stop heat climbing away inside the friction material so that the lever does not lengthen towards the end of a session. On a fifty the loads are small beside those of a superbike, yet a race weekend applies them without pause, and it is that relentlessness a racing mix is built around.
Between the Heats
A club meeting leaves a rider very little time. Practice, qualifying and two races can fall inside one day, and the bike returns to the awning hot after every one of them. The disciplined approach is to look the brake over each time: how much material is left, whether the disc surface has changed colour, whether the lever comes back to the same place as before. Note what you find, because a pattern across a weekend tells you far more than a single glance ever will.
Bedding in deserves planning too. A set that goes on between qualifying and the race has to work from the first corner, so use an earlier session to warm it gradually and then leave it alone for a few minutes. Riders who campaign an RS4 50 through a whole season tend to keep a used set in reserve as well: material that has already been through a heat cycle makes a better emergency spare than a set still in its wrapper.
Fitment and Compatibility
The AGPA32 is listed by Accossato for the Aprilia RS4 50 from 2011 to 2021. A second front reference exists for the model, the AGPA142 for 2012 to 2019, so compare what you take out with what you are about to put in; in a paddock that check costs a minute and can save a session. One box equips one caliper. Whatever state the rear is in, never mix an old pad with a new one inside the same caliper, and study the disc surface before a fresh set goes near it.
Road Approval
No German ABE or inspection certificate is available to us for the EV2 version of this pad; it is sold strictly for racing and competition.
