DescriptionThe whole story▼
Riders who press on aboard an XDiavel Dark tend to discover the rear brake in a new role. A long, low machine settles noticeably when a little pressure goes through the pedal on the way out of a bend, and the same small input steadies the bike over a crest or through a compression. Accossato offers the AGPA92 rear pad in the EV1 street/track material as article AGPA92EV1 for the 2022 to 2024 bikes, a mixture the company recommends for road riding and for amateur circuit sessions.
Key Features
- Rear pads for the Ducati XDiavel Dark, 2022 to 2024
- Article AGPA92EV1: the AGPA92 shape with the EV1 street/track material
- Accossato names fast road riding and amateur circuit use
- For a rear brake used as a steadying input rather than a stopping one
- One box fills the single rear caliper of this Ducati
- The AGPA177 is the matching front article, listed for 2024
- The same plate also exists in OR, ST, EV2 and ZXC
- No German ABE available; supplied for competition
Construction and Material Quality
The factory hangs two settings on this one material: the public road and the circuit in amateur hands. Those settings share a requirement, which is that the answer at the pedal should not drift as the afternoon goes on. Accossato talks about heat being kept within limits and about fade being held off as a result, and that is a claim to judge late in a ride rather than at the start of one. The carrier is the standard AGPA92 plate used by every version of the article, so the pad seats exactly as the previous one did and only the friction layer is new.
Settling a Long Chassis
Weight and wheelbase give this Ducati a calm, deliberate way of changing direction, and the rear brake is one of the few controls that can hurry the process along. A touch of pedal as the bike is picked up from a bend tightens the line without unsettling the fork. A slightly longer touch through a fast compression keeps the tail from floating. None of this involves much force, but it does involve a great many small applications in a short space of time, which is a warmer life than a rear pad usually leads.
Two habits help. The first is to find out, somewhere quiet, exactly how much pedal travel produces how much effect, because a rear brake used as a fine control must be known rather than guessed. The second is mechanical: keep an eye on the friction thickness at the end of a hard summer, look for glazing on the disc face, and bed a new set in over a few gentle days before the XDiavel Dark is ridden quickly again. Warm pads and a clean disc give the rear wheel a predictable answer.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato covers the rear of this bike across 2022, 2023 and 2024 with the AGPA92, while the front entry, the AGPA177, is held for 2024 alone; the mismatch between the two spans is worth noticing before a complete set is ordered. Discs for the model appear in the range as the DKS053. The rear wheel of the XDiavel Dark uses one caliper and one box of pads covers it. Where a bike has been through several hands, compare the pad that comes out with the one that goes in, since this catalogue reuses outlines across machines with very different characters.
Road Approval
No ABE, and no German examination paperwork, is on file here for the AGPA92EV1. It is sold for closed courses and organised events.
Scope of Delivery
