DescriptionThe whole story▼
Rear brakes are used on circuits more than people admit. A light touch on the pedal on the way into a slow corner settles a tall motorcycle, keeps the nose from running wide and gives the rider something to do with the right foot besides wait. For the rear of the Ducati Multistrada 1200 S of 2015 to 2017, Accossato offers the AGPA29 in its EV1 street/track material as article AGPA29EV1, a compound the company describes as suiting street riding and amateur circuit work alike.
Key Features
- Rear brake pads for the Ducati Multistrada 1200 S, 2015 to 2017
- AGPA29EV1: the AGPA29 shape carrying the EV1 street/track material
- Accossato names road use and amateur circuit sessions for this compound
- One material for the ride to the circuit and the sessions that follow
- Covers the S, the D-Air, the Touring to 2016 and the Pikes Peak from 2016
- A single rear caliper, so one box changes the axle
- OR, ST and STMX are the other versions on this plate
- No German ABE in our records; competition part
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato writes the same double description for every shape it presses in this material, the road on one side and amateur circuit work on the other, and at the rear of a machine that reading is easy to apply. The pedal gets used on the way to an event and during it, and one material covering both saves an owner from keeping two sets for a part of the bike that does perhaps a fifth of the work. The AGPA29 plate is the same as in every other version, so the choice concerns purely what touches the disc.
Steadying the Bike on the Way In
Watch riders at a circuit day from the inside of a slow corner and the good ones are all doing something small with the right foot. A trace of rear brake, applied before the lever is released and carried a little way into the turn, stops a long-travel bike pitching and keeps it from standing up as the front is let go. On a Multistrada 1200 S, tall and carrying its weight high, the effect is more noticeable than it would be on a sports machine, and it is a habit worth learning deliberately rather than by accident.
The pedal has to be in the right place for any of that. Set its height so the ball of the foot reaches it without the boot sliding off the peg, and set it with the boots you actually ride in rather than the pair you own. After a session, check whether the rear has been dragging: a rear disc noticeably hotter than the work you have done would explain usually means the pedal is resting on the master cylinder or the caliper is not releasing.
Fitment and Compatibility
Four versions of the same machine are gathered in this entry, all with the pad at the rear: the Multistrada 1200 S and the S D-Air from 2015 to 2017, the S Pikes Peak from 2016 to 2017, and the S Touring, listed to 2016. Only one caliper works back there, so a single box is a complete change. The AGPA106 is the front pad for these machines and the DKS053 the disc. If the bike has had a caliper replaced at some point, compare shapes before ordering rather than afterwards.
Road Approval
We have not been given an ABE or a German test report for the AGPA29EV1, and the pads are therefore listed for competition on closed courses.
Scope of Delivery
One box with two AGPA29 pads in the EV1 street/track material, the complete rear set for this Multistrada.
