DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Yamaha R6 has always been a favourite for track days, and many owners split their time between fast roads and open pit-lane sessions. Accossato front pad AGPA97 in the EV1 street/track compound is designed for exactly that combination. Accossato lists AGPA97 for the R6 from 1999 to 2026. EV1 gives a firm, direct response when braking hard, while still working on the ride to and from the circuit.
Key Features
- Front pad AGPA97 in EV1 street/track compound
- For the Yamaha R6, 1999-2026
- Accossato: excellent grip for street and amateur track riding
- Direct feel for hard stops from speed
- Handles a day of track sessions
- Two pads, one caliper
- Other compounds: OR, ST, EV2, ZXC
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato describes EV1 as a compound with excellent grip for road riding and amateur circuit use. It sits between the road compounds and the race compounds. Accossato's general claims, namely long life, reduced fade thanks to limited heat and strong braking, are reported here as the company's statements.
Road and Track on One Set
An R6 at a track day brakes hard from high speed several times each lap. Road pads can feel soft after a few sessions, and pure race pads are not ideal on the ride home. EV1 is designed to bridge that gap, keeping a firm response through a day of sessions and working normally on public roads. Riders who move into club racing may later choose EV2 or ZXC. The R6 is a bike that rewards commitment on the brakes, because so much of its lap time comes from carrying speed into corners. Having a pad you trust at the end of a straight lets you concentrate on lines and body position instead of wondering whether the lever will come back to the bar.
Preparing for a Track Day
Fit and bed in the pads before the event, check fluid colour and level, and inspect the discs. At the circuit, look at pad thickness at lunchtime and after the last session.
Fitment and Compatibility
Whether your R6 is an early carburettor bike or a recent one, Accossato gives the same front pad: AGPA97 is catalogued for the YZF 600 R6 across 1999 to 2026. Plan on two boxes, because the twin front discs each have their own caliper. Rear options from Accossato differ by generation, with AGPP88 for 2003 to 2016 and AGPP39 from 2017. Wipe the discs with brake cleaner before the first session.
Road Approval
There is no ABE or test documentation for AGPA97EV1 on our side. It is sold for competition and closed-circuit use.
