DescriptionThe whole story▼
Owners of an earlier Triumph Speedmaster, the 800 of 2003 and 2004 or the 900 of 2005 to 2015, sometimes find the original front brake feel rather soft for spirited riding. For those who like to ride their cruiser with some pace on a good road, Accossato lists the AGPA72 front pad in the EV1 street/track compound. It offers a firmer bite and more feedback than an everyday pad, and it is meant for lively road use and occasional closed-course sessions.
Key Features
- EV1 street/track front pads, Accossato AGPA72EV1
- For the Triumph Speedmaster 800 (2003 to 2004) and 900 (2005 to 2015)
- For spirited road riding and closed-course sessions
- Accossato describes excellent grip on road and amateur track
- Two pads per box, one caliper
- Also sold in OR, ST and EV2
Construction and Material Quality
The EV1 version of the AGPA72 is Accossato's street and track compound. The maker describes excellent grip for road riding and amateur circuit use. On an older cruiser, that can transform the feel of the front brake, giving a more immediate response and clearer feedback. Like Accossato's other pads, it is designed for moderate wear, limited heat and fade, and strong braking.
Waking Up an Older Brake
A sharper pad only shows its character in a healthy system. Before fitting the EV1 pads to your Speedmaster, check the disc for wear and warping, clean the caliper pistons thoroughly, and replace old fluid. If the brake hose is original, consider having it inspected, as aged rubber hoses can swell under pressure and make the lever feel spongy. After fitting, pump the lever until firm, then bed the pads in on a quiet road with a series of progressively firmer stops. The difference in feel can be striking.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the Triumph Speed Master 800 of 2003 and 2004 and the Speedmaster 900 of 2005 to 2015, Accossato lists the AGPA72 at the front. Check how many front calipers your bike has, because one box covers one. The rear pad for those years is the AGPA76, while the later Speedmaster 1200 takes the AGPA29 at the front. Other AGPA72 compounds are Organic, Sintered and EV2.
Road Approval
There is no ABE for this EV1 pad and no road approval document on our file. It is supplied for track days and competition.
