DescriptionThe whole story▼
Not every KTM 250 SX stays on dirt. Some owners fit smaller wheels and slick tyres and take the two-stroke to a kart circuit or a supermoto practice day. For them Accossato offers the AGPA29 front pad in the EV1 street/track compound, listed for the 250 SX from 1996 to 2026. It is aimed at the rider who enjoys hard stops on asphalt, who is booking a first track session and who wants a firmer, more direct bite than a trail-orientated lining can give.
Key Features
- AGPA29 front pad set for the KTM 250 SX, 1996 to 2026
- EV1 compound, article AGPA29EV1
- Accossato speaks of excellent grip on the street and at amateur track level
- Suited to tarmac sessions, kart tracks and hobby supermoto races
- Firm, direct response once the pad reaches working temperature
- Same plate is also available as OR, ST and STMX
- No German ABE available; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato describes EV1 as a compound with excellent grip for road riding and amateur track use. On asphalt, a 250 SX can brake much harder than on loose ground because the tyre finally has something to hold on to, and the pad has to match that. EV1 is carried on the familiar AGPA29 backing plate, so the switch from a dirt set is quick and needs no other parts.
First Laps on Asphalt
A track day on a converted motocross bike is a different skill from riding ruts. Speeds into the hairpin are higher, the front tyre loads up far more, and the brake is used as a precision tool rather than a series of quick dabs. EV1 rewards a squeeze that builds steadily: the harder you press, the more you get. Riders at their first amateur race often find that this predictable build-up helps them find the limit of the front tyre without surprises.
Before the first session, bed the pads in with several progressive stops from moderate speed, and check that the brake fluid is fresh. A clean, grease-free disc is essential on tarmac, so wipe it with brake cleaner after fitting.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists AGPA29 for the front caliper of the SX 250 for 1996 through 2026. At the rear, this model takes Accossato AGPP80 from 2003, and the discs DK017, DK018 and DK259 are also listed for it. A bike fitted with a supermoto front disc and a different caliper may need another pad, so compare the old lining with this one first. The standard 250 SX has one front caliper.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE or test mark for AGPA29EV1 in our hands, so the set is sold for circuit use.
Scope of Delivery
Two AGPA29 pads in EV1 compound, sufficient for a single caliper.
