DescriptionThe whole story▼
Sooner or later, many owners of a Honda CBR 1000 RR Fireblade from the 2004 to 2016 years book a first day on a circuit. The bike is ready for it; the question is whether the brakes set up for daily riding will cope with a full session of heavy stops. Accossato's AGPA108EV1 answers that with the EV1 street/track mixture on the AGPA108 front shape. The factory describes it as giving excellent grip for fast road riding and for amateur track use, which is exactly the space between a quick Sunday run and an organised track day with friends.
Key Features
- Front brake pads for the CBR 1000 RR Fireblade of 2004 to 2016
- EV1 street/track mixture, article AGPA108EV1
- Built for keen road riding and first days on a circuit
- Strong initial bite for committed riding on back roads
- One box per front caliper, two calipers on the Fireblade
- Also available on this shape as OR, ST, EV2 and ZXC
- No German ABE in our files, supplied for track and racing
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato positions the EV1 as a bridge. It should grip hard on a winding road and still keep working when an amateur rider starts using the whole straight at a circuit. The manufacturer's general promises for its pads apply here as well, told in plain terms: they wear slowly, they keep heat within limits so that fade stays low, and they stop strongly. The AGPA108 carrier is unchanged from the other versions, so the calipers see exactly the same part; only the friction material is chosen for a different kind of rider.
From the Back Road to a First Track Day
A Fireblade owner heading to a first circuit day usually rides there, rides the sessions and rides home again. A pad that suits both halves of that day avoids a swap in the paddock. On the road, the EV1 responds eagerly to a firm squeeze; on track, it is meant to keep that response as the sessions add up and the discs get hotter.
Preparation matters more than the pads alone. Fresh brake fluid before a track day is worth the small cost, and the pistons should be clean enough to move freely. Once the new pads are in, press the lever until firm resistance returns and bed them in on the road before arriving. Between sessions, check that the lever still comes up to the same point and that nothing has worked loose. A glance at pad thickness after the last session tells you whether the ride home is covered.
Fitment and Compatibility
This article is listed for the Honda CBR 1000 RR from 2004 to 2016, whose front wheel carries two calipers, so two boxes complete the job. For the 2017 to 2019 Fireblade, the matching front article is the AGPA250; the rear of the 2006 to 2019 bikes takes the AGPP39. Discs DKS038 and DKS040 are available for the model as well.
Road Approval
There is no ABE and no German test certificate on file for the EV1 version, so we offer it for circuit and competition riding.
