DescriptionThe whole story▼
There is a particular pleasure in taking the wrong motorcycle to a fast road. A Scrambler Classic has wide bars, a soft seat and wire wheels, and it will still keep respectable company on a hill road of a summer evening provided the front brake is up to the pace. Accossato's AGPA177 in the EV1 street/track material, sold as AGPA177EV1, aims at precisely that overlap, since the firm names ordinary road use and amateur circuit sessions in the same breath. Cover begins in 2015 and ends with 2019.
Key Features
- Front pads for the Ducati Scrambler Classic, 2015 to 2019
- AGPA177EV1: the AGPA177 shape wearing the EV1 street/track material
- Accossato intends it for road riding and for amateur circuit sessions
- One material for a fast evening road and for an open pit lane
- Single front disc, single box for the caliper
- Five seasons covered, which is the model's entire production
- Offered in ST, EV2 and ZXC as well
- No German paperwork on file; a competition article
Construction and Material Quality
A dual-purpose description is a promise to work at two quite different rhythms. On a hill road the front brake is used hard perhaps twenty times in an hour, with long cool gaps in between. In an open pit lane the same brake is used hard twenty times in ten minutes with no gaps at all, and the second pattern is what separates compounds from one another. Accossato hangs both uses on this single material. The plate is the shared AGPA177, so a rider who later wants something else changes the friction layer and nothing besides. Heat kept within limits, and therefore less fade, is the property the maker puts forward for its pads.
Evening Roads and the Occasional Open Pit Lane
The Classic is not a sports bike and nobody pretends otherwise, which has never stopped anybody. A group leaves after work, the road climbs, the pace rises without anyone agreeing to it, and the machine with the retro seat is somewhere in the middle of the line. Later in the year one of those riders books an open pit-lane day, turns up on the same Scrambler Classic and spends the morning being passed politely while learning a great deal.
Two habits keep that honest. Look at the friction thickness before a long day rather than after it, and bed a new set in on quiet roads so the first hard application is not also the first application. Keep an eye on the fluid, since heat reaches it before it reaches anything else. Wipe the disc with nothing oily, check the caliper bolts, and pump the lever until it is solid before the bike is ridden anywhere at all.
Fitment and Compatibility
Five model years, 2015 to 2019, describe the whole of this application at the front wheel. Accossato names no other Classic variant, because Ducati built none. The bike runs a single front disc, which keeps the order simple at one box. Elsewhere in the catalogue for the same motorcycle the rear takes the AGPP91 across the identical span, and the disc list holds the DK008 and the DKS074. Pad shapes in this range appear under several model names, so the article number rather than the badge is what settles a question.
Road Approval
Neither an ABE nor a German certificate for the AGPA177EV1 has reached us, so the set is sold for closed courses, organised events and competition.
Scope of Delivery
Two AGPA177 pads in the EV1 street/track material, boxed together as the set for one caliper, which is all the Scrambler Classic asks for at the front.
