DescriptionThe whole story▼
Advanced riding courses fill up with big road bikes, and the Ducati Multistrada 1200 of 2015 and 2016 is a regular in that car park: upright, long in the suspension and honest enough to show a rider exactly what the right hand is doing. Accossato presses the AGPA177 front pad in its EV1 street/track material, article AGPA177EV1, and puts the compound forward for road use and amateur circuit sessions in the same breath. That double description is the point of the article: one material for the ride out, the exercises and the journey home.
Key Features
- Front pads for the Ducati Multistrada 1200, model years 2015 and 2016
- AGPA177EV1: the AGPA177 shape carrying the EV1 street/track material
- Accossato names road riding and amateur circuit work as the intended use
- One set for the road miles and the session, with no swap in the car park
- Twin front discs on this Multistrada mean two boxes for a complete change
- Each box contains two pads, the set for one caliper
- ST, EV2 and ZXC are pressed on the same carrier
- No German ABE in our records; sold as a competition part
Construction and Material Quality
Two uses are named in the factory description and neither hides behind the other: grip for ordinary road work, grip for amateur sessions inside a circuit fence. A compound written that way is a compromise by design, and the honest way to read it is to notice where the wording stops. Accossato says amateur, and makes no claim about the sharp end of a race weekend; other articles in the range are aimed there. The plate under the friction layer is the usual AGPA177, so moving between suffixes never disturbs the fit of the pad.
An Afternoon of Emergency Stops
A course built around stopping looks undramatic from the edge of the tarmac and is anything but from the saddle. You approach a cone at a given speed, pull up as hard as tyre and electronics allow, ride back to the start and repeat, perhaps thirty times in a session, often with an instructor wetting the surface to make a point. Little else a road rider does puts so much repeated effort through the front of a motorcycle in so short a time, and by the final runs the bike is saying plainly whether the material in the calipers minds the heat.
Two things are worth doing beforehand. Let a new set find its feet over a few days of ordinary riding rather than arriving with the wrapping barely off, because fresh material wants some gentle work before it settles down. And take a proper look at the discs: a lip at the outer edge, or a surface that catches a fingernail, will undo whatever is fitted behind it, and the Multistrada 1200 wears its front discs in plain sight.
Fitment and Compatibility
The coverage here is the base Multistrada 1200 built in 2015 and 2016, front wheel only. That wheel runs a caliper on each side and each of them needs its own set, so the sensible order is two boxes. The S models of the same years take a different front article, which matters more than it sounds: pad shapes in this catalogue travel between models, so the number stamped on the part you remove is worth more than the name on the fairing. The AGPA29 covers the rear of this Multistrada, and the DKS053 is the disc Accossato lists for it.
Road Approval
We hold no ABE and no German test certificate for this article, and so the pads leave us as competition parts for closed courses and organised events.
Scope of Delivery
Two AGPA177 pads in the EV1 street/track material, boxed as one caliper's worth. The front of this Multistrada needs a pair of boxes.
