DescriptionThe whole story▼
Evening track sessions have quietly become the cheapest way to ride a motorcycle properly. Two hours after work, a short circuit, twenty riders who all know each other, and a middleweight naked like the Ducati Monster 821 is entirely at home among them. Accossato's EV1 street/track material was drawn up for that overlap between road and circuit, and the front pad for this model in that compound is article AGPA177EV1 on the AGPA177 shape. The company puts it forward for street riding and amateur track work, and lists it for the Monster 821 from 2014 to 2021.
Key Features
- Front pads for the Ducati Monster 821, 2014 to 2021
- AGPA177EV1: the AGPA177 shape carrying the EV1 street/track material
- Accossato intends this compound for the road and for amateur sessions
- No swapping sets between the commute and the evening session
- Two calipers at the front, so two boxes make a complete change
- Two pads in a box, the set one caliper needs
- ST, EV2 and ZXC are the other materials on this shape
- No German ABE held; sold for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
A dual-purpose compound is always a compromise, and the honest question is where the compromise falls. Accossato positions this one so that it still behaves at road speeds and from cold, while tolerating the sustained work of an amateur session, which is a narrower brief than a pure racing grade and a wider one than a commuting pad. Nothing mechanical changes with the choice: the AGPA177 plate is common to the whole family, so a rider moving between materials is altering behaviour alone, never the way the part sits in the caliper.
Evening Sessions and the Step Up a Group
Progress on a circuit shows up at the brakes long before it shows up on a lap timer. The novice group brakes early and coasts; the next group up brakes later and carries the speed into the corner, which is a different demand entirely. On a Monster 821 that transition happens over a few evenings, and the rider usually notices it as a change in how much of the lever travel is being used and for how long at a time.
Two practical points go with that. Material that was fine for a season of road riding can disappear surprisingly fast once sessions get serious, so look at what is left after every other evening rather than at the end of the summer. And treat the fluid as a wear item too: it takes heat from the caliper whether or not anyone checks it. When a fresh set goes in, bed it deliberately on the first laps out and keep everything away from the disc faces while the Monster 821 is on the stand.
Fitment and Compatibility
The front listing is given as 2014 to 2021 and includes the 821 Stealth from 2019 onward. Each of the two front calipers needs its own box, so one box is never a finished job. Behind, the AGPA42 is the article for this machine over the same years, and Accossato catalogues two discs for the model, the DK008 and the DKS053. Compare the pad that comes out with the picture before ordering, as a name spanning eight seasons can cover more than one specification.
Road Approval
There is no ABE in our files for the AGPA177EV1 and no German test certificate, which is why the pads are listed for racing and closed courses.
Scope of Delivery
One box, two AGPA177 pads in the EV1 street/track material, sufficient for a single front caliper of the Monster 821.
