DescriptionThe whole story▼
Learning where to brake is the slowest part of getting quick, and it is the part most road riders have never had to do at all. Ducati built the Monster 1200 S from 2014 to 2021 with suspension and brakes a step above the standard machine, which makes it a reasonable tool for that education. Accossato's front pad for it is the AGPA106, offered here in the EV1 street/track material as article AGPA106EV1, a compound the firm rates for street riding and for amateur circuit work alike.
Key Features
- Front brake pads for the Ducati Monster 1200 S, model years 2014 to 2021
- AGPA106EV1: the AGPA106 plate in the EV1 street/track material
- Accossato rates the compound for the road and for amateur track days
- The listing also covers the S Stripes of 2015 to 2017
- Two front calipers and a box for each
- Two pads per box
- Also pressed on this plate: ST, EV2 and ZXC
- No German ABE documented; competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato sets this material between two worlds and says so plainly, which is more useful than a claim that it excels in both. A pad meant for the road and for amateur circuit use has to work from cold on a Tuesday and survive a warm afternoon of lapping, and the compromise between those jobs is the product. The plate is the AGPA106, common to all four materials and therefore not a variable: whatever a rider learns by changing compound, they learn about the friction layer.
Where the Lever Comes On
A marker is a piece of scenery the rider agrees with themselves to use, and the first few sessions of any track day are spent finding them and then discovering they were all too conservative. This is where a consistent pad matters far more than a powerful one. If the same lever pressure at the same board produces the same result on lap two and on lap twelve, a rider can move the marker deliberately. If it does not, they are guessing, and guessing at the end of a straight is how people run out of circuit.
On a Monster 1200 S the process has an extra wrinkle. Sitting upright, the rider is a large part of what slows the machine, so a change in body position between laps alters the stopping distance as much as a change in lever pressure does. Get the position repeatable first, then start moving the marker. And take the same care over what happens after the corner: material that has been used hard all session deserves a cool-down lap rather than a sprint into the pit lane and a hot machine left standing on its brake.
Fitment and Compatibility
This listing is Accossato's front pad for the Ducati Monster 1200 S built from 2014 to 2021, and the S Stripes of 2015 to 2017 falls under the same entry. Because two calipers work the front wheel, a full change means two boxes. The rear of the machine takes the AGPA42 over the same period. No Accossato disc is listed for the Monster 1200 S, so this is a pad change rather than a rebuild of the whole front end.
Road Approval
Our documentation contains no German ABE for the AGPA106EV1 and no report from any test house. The pads leave us as competition parts.
Scope of Delivery
Two AGPA106 pads in the EV1 material, one box, one front caliper. A Monster 1200 S needs a pair of boxes to do the whole wheel.
