DescriptionThe whole story▼
An MT 800 without luggage on a mountain road is a quicker machine than its shape suggests, and a group ride tends to reveal that on the way down. Where the road drops through a chain of hairpins the front brake works almost continuously, with nothing but the next corner to cool it. Accossato's AGPA96EV1 puts the EV1 street/track compound on the familiar AGPA96 plate for the CFMOTO MT 800 of 2022 to 2026, a material the company recommends for keen road riding and for amateur sessions on a circuit.
Key Features
- Front brake pads for the CFMOTO MT 800, seasons 2022 to 2026
- AGPA96EV1: the AGPA96 plate in the EV1 street/track compound
- Accossato names committed road use and amateur track days as its field
- A step above the road compounds without being a pure race material
- One box equips one caliper; check how many the front wheel carries
- OR, ST, EV2 and ZXC round out the same plate
- Rear wheel: AGPA29, listed for the same years
- No German ABE recorded; supplied as a competition part
Construction and Material Quality
Between the road compounds and the racing ones Accossato puts EV1, and describes it as offering strong grip both on the street and in amateur track use. The interesting half of that sentence is the second, since a track session strings heavy applications together with very little recovery in between. A machine the size of the MT 800 converts a lot of speed into heat at every corner entry, considerably more than a small bike does, so a compound with some margin above ordinary road duty is the sensible choice for anyone who rides this bike hard downhill.
Keeping Up on the Descent
Descending in company is a particular kind of pressure. The rider ahead brakes later than you expected, the corner tightens, and the machine behind is close enough that an early stop has consequences of its own. What lets a rider handle that calmly is a brake whose response does not drift as the descent goes on, so the tenth corner asks for the same lever pressure as the second. When it stops doing so, the usual reaction is to ride further from the limit and further from the group, and the day becomes less enjoyable for everyone.
A bike used in this way deserves attention more often than the service book suggests. After a hard run, look at the disc surface for discolouration and at the pads for uneven wear between inner and outer, because a lazy piston shows itself there first. Keep the fluid fresh, since heat reaches it through the caliper as surely as through anything else, and give a new set its settling-in period of firm, controlled stops before the first fast descent rather than in the middle of one.
Fitment and Compatibility
The years in the list are not identical across the range: 2022 to 2026 for the Sport, 2024 to 2026 for the Explorer, and 2022 on its own for the Touring. Work out which MT 800 is in the garage before ordering, then count the calipers on the front wheel, since a box holds one caliper's pair and no more. Pads are renewed in pairs within a caliper and across the axle in a single session. The AGPA29 is Accossato's rear pad for this machine over the same period, and there is no Accossato disc for the MT 800.
Road Approval
Documentation for the AGPA96EV1 has not reached us and no German ABE exists for it, so the pads are catalogued for track and competition work.
Scope of Delivery
One box holding two AGPA96 pads in the EV1 street/track compound, the pair for a single caliper.
