DescriptionThe whole story▼
Nobody buys a BMW R nineT Scrambler to break lap records, and plenty of owners still ride one hard on a good road. High bars and a long-travel feel do not stop the boxer from carrying real speed between hairpins, and on a warm Sunday in the hills the front brake works far above its weekday rate. Accossato's EV1 street/track compound in the AGPA96 pad is drawn for exactly that band of use, and the firm lists it for the Scrambler of 2016 to 2023.
Key Features
- AGPA96EV1: front pads in the EV1 street/track compound
- For the BMW R nineT Scrambler, built 2016 to 2023
- Accossato names fast road work and amateur track sessions as the purpose
- Catalogued by the maker as the R 1200 nine T Scrambler
- One box equals one caliper and holds two pads
- Other materials on this shape: OR, ST, EV2 and ZXC
- The AGPA29 covers the rear wheel of the same machine
- No German ABE on record, so the pads are sold for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Between the mild compounds and the racing ones Accossato puts this material, and describes it as giving excellent grip for riding on the road and in amateur track use. High stopping power is the first quality it lists. The plate is the standard AGPA96, so nothing about fitting changes; only what happens between pad and disc when the lever is squeezed hard from speed. For a tall, upright machine that is a reasonable place to stop, since a harder race material would spend most of its life below the temperature it wants. Two pads go in the box, filling one caliper.
A Mountain Road Taken Seriously
A pass road is a demanding place for an R nineT Scrambler. The riding position catches the wind, the bars give leverage that makes it easy to arrive quicker than intended, and the brake is used firmly at the end of every straight for an hour at a time. Heat builds in the discs and stays there because there are no long cruising stretches between the bends to carry it away. What a rider notices first when a mild material gives up is the lever: it travels further than it did at the bottom of the climb, and the bite arrives a fraction later than the corner needs. The remedy is partly the material and partly the riding. Brake decisively and then let go, rather than trailing pressure all the way down a descent, use the engine to hold the speed where you can, and stop for a coffee before the pads and the rider both run out of patience. Look at the friction material afterwards, while the memory of the road is still fresh.
Fitment and Compatibility
This article is listed for the front of the R nineT Scrambler across the model years 2016 to 2023 and no others. The number of boxes a complete change needs depends on the calipers fitted to your front wheel, since each box serves one. Accossato's rear pad for the Scrambler is the AGPA29, and it offers the DK006 and DK007 discs for this machine if the friction surfaces are worn as well.
Road Approval
Approval papers do not exist in our records for this article, neither a German ABE nor anything equivalent, so we sell it strictly for track days and competition.
