DescriptionThe whole story▼
There is an old saying about riding a slow bike quickly, and a BMW G650GS proves it at any circuit that has more corners than straights. The single cylinder will not win a drag race, but the machine is narrow, light on its feet and honest about what the tyres are doing, which makes it a fine place to learn how much speed a corner will actually take. Accossato's EV1 street/track compound in the AGPA92 pad is built for riders using a G650GS of 2009 to 2015 in that spirit.
Key Features
- AGPA92EV1: front pads in the EV1 street/track compound
- BMW G650GS, model years 2009 to 2015, front wheel
- Accossato names fast road riding and amateur circuit use as the purpose
- Meant for a lever worked firmly session after session
- Two pads per box, which is the single front caliper's supply
- Calmer materials fill the same outline for everyday riding
- Rear pads for this bike are listed under AGPP91, 2009 to 2015
- No approval documents on file; offered for closed circuits and competition
Construction and Material Quality
The description Accossato gives this material is short and carefully bounded: excellent grip for street riding and for amateur track use. It is the step above the everyday materials and the step below the ones built for racing, which is the right place for a bike that rides to the circuit under its own power. What a track asks of a pad is not one enormous stop but the same firm stop over and over with very little cooling between, and a material that copes with that without changing character is what keeps the lever where the rider left it. Two pads come in the box, filling one caliper.
A Slow Bike Ridden Quickly
On a light single the braking zones are short and the corner entry is everything. You are not trying to shed a great deal of speed; you are trying to arrive at the turn with the machine settled, the fork loaded and enough momentum left to carry through. That rewards a smooth, early squeeze and an unhurried release, and it punishes the habit of grabbing late, which upsets a soft-sprung trail bike more than it would a sports machine. Riders who get this right on a G650GS spend a happy day watching faster bikes struggle to pass them.
Preparation is short but not optional. Fresh brake fluid is the single most useful thing to change before a track day, because old fluid holds water and goes soft when it is worked hard. Bed the new pads in on a quiet road beforehand with a series of progressively firmer stops. And once you are there, look at the pads between sessions, because a light machine can flatter a rider into using the brake far more than the road ever asked of it.
Fitment and Compatibility
The AGPA92 shape is catalogued for the front wheel of the BMW G650GS across model years 2009 to 2015. The wheel has one caliper, so a single box equips the front end and a spare set travels easily in a rucksack. At the back the AGPP91 pad covers the same years, although a day at a circuit will hardly touch it. Accossato does not list a brake disc for this model, so the standard disc remains part of the equation when you choose a material.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE for the AGPA92EV1 in our records and no other approval document accompanies it. The pad is supplied for circuit and competition riding, not for the public road.
Scope of Delivery
Two AGPA92 pads in the EV1 street/track compound, packed as the set for one front caliper.
