DescriptionThe whole story▼
Riders who switch to a 300 two-stroke on the motocross track often notice that they use the clutch less. The TM Racing MX 300 two-stroke pulls from low revs, so many turns can be taken a gear higher without slipping the clutch at all. But less is not none: starts, tight hairpins and slippery exits still call for a precise left hand. For the MX 300 two-stroke from 2010 to 2019, Accossato's C7283 is a folding clutch lever for that hand, CNC-machined in Italy from Ergal 7075, with a long blade for four fingers.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the TM Racing MX 300 two-stroke, 2010 to 2019
- Mounts at the original clutch control
- Longer blade intended for four fingers
- Anti-break hinge allows the blade to fold forward in a fall
- Machined from solid Ergal 7075 aluminium alloy in Italy
- Blade in black, blue, orange or red above a dark base
- No German ABE documented; for motocross and off-road use
Construction and Material Quality
From a solid block of Ergal 7075, a high-strength aluminium alloy, CNC machines in Italy cut the two parts of the C7283. Accossato's stated goals are strength, reliability and a low weight. The dark base stays on the pivot at the clutch control, and the blade, in black, blue, orange or red, is attached to it by a hinge that lets it fold. Clutch blades in Accossato's off-road range are long and designed for four fingers.
Less Clutch, Not No Clutch
The moments when a 300 still needs its clutch tend to be the critical ones. At the start, all that torque has to reach the rear tyre without wheelspin or a wheelie, which calls for a smooth, controlled release. In a tight hairpin the engine can be lugged, but a brief slip helps it pick up cleanly on the exit. On a wet, slick track the clutch softens the delivery further. Because these moments are fewer, each one has to be right, and a long lever that the whole hand can control helps with that.
The clutch lever is also the part that pays for a crash in a crowded first turn or a tip-over in a slippery rut. The C7283's hinge gives the blade the option of folding forward when it strikes the ground, rather than taking the full impact at its tip. That gives the MX 300 two-stroke a better chance of rejoining the race with a working clutch. No lever survives every crash, but on a bike whose rider may need the clutch only a few times per lap, it matters that it is there for each of them.
Fitment and Compatibility
Only the 2010 to 2019 bikes of the TM Racing MX 300 two-stroke are listed for the C7283, which replaces the stock lever at the original clutch control. The B8206 folding brake lever covers the bike for longer, from 2001 onwards. For matching levers, pick black, blue or red; orange is available on the clutch lever only.
Road Approval
The C7283 comes without a German ABE. Like the MX 300 two-stroke, it is meant for the motocross track and other off-road competition.
