DescriptionThe whole story▼
On a steep descent, riders split into two camps: those who ride down in gear and let the engine hold the bike back, and those who pull the clutch and control the speed with the brakes alone. On a KTM 450 XC-F both approaches have their place, and the left hand chooses between them every time the ground drops away. Accossato's C7283, listed for the 450 XC-F of 2008 and of 2013 to 2022, is a long clutch lever that four fingers can hold in through a whole descent, and it folds if the bike tips.

Construction and Material Quality
A clutch you hold in through a whole descent should rest on the whole hand, and Accossato draws the C7283 accordingly: long, with room for four fingers. The lever is machined in Italy from solid Ergal 7075, the alloy Accossato uses for its off-road levers, with strength, low weight and reliability as the stated goals. It comes in two parts. The dark base stays on the pivot at the clutch mount, and the coloured blade is joined to it so that it can fold forward.
Clutch In or Clutch Out on the Way Down
Riding down in gear uses the 450 XC-F's strong engine braking to steady the bike and keep the rear wheel turning, which helps the steering and makes a locked rear wheel less likely. On long, even descents it works well. On very steep or slippery ground, though, engine braking can make the rear wheel skid or hop, and many riders then pull the clutch in and brake with front and rear alone, feeding the clutch back out once the slope eases. Switching between the two calls for a light, precise touch, and four fingers on a long blade make it easier to hold the clutch in for a whole descent.
Descents are also where many tip-overs happen, at low speed but on steep ground. If the 450 XC-F goes down to the left, the clutch lever lands first, often on rocks or roots. Hinged at its base, the C7283's blade can fold forward and has a chance of surviving such a fall. Pick the KTM 450 XC-F up across the slope, restart it and carry on down with the clutch you need for the next steep section.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the C7283 for the KTM 450 XC-F in two separate periods, the 2008 model year and 2013 to 2022; the years 2009 to 2012 are not part of the listing. The lever fits the original clutch mount. For the 2013 to 2022 bikes, the B8283 folding brake lever completes the pair, while for the 2008 model only this clutch lever is listed. The shared colours are black, blue and orange; red is available on the clutch lever alone.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the C7283. It is intended for off-road riding and competition, not for public roads.
