DescriptionThe whole story▼
Watch a quick rider on a Kawasaki KX250F through a tight corner and you will usually see one or two fingers resting on the clutch lever the whole way round. A 250 four-stroke makes its power high in the rev range and can stall if the revs drop too far, so the clutch is kept ready to slip, to catch the engine or to add a burst of drive on the exit. Accossato's C7261 is a folding clutch lever for the KX250F from 2005 to 2020, CNC-machined in Italy from Ergal 7075, with a long blade for four fingers.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato starts the C7261 from a solid piece of Ergal 7075 and shapes it on CNC machines in Italy. The alloy is chosen for its high strength, which lets the company build a lever that is strong, light and reliable. The lever has a dark base, which sits on the pivot of the clutch mount and holds the joint, and a blade in black, blue, gold or green that can fold forward on it; the green version lines up with Kawasaki's usual bodywork colour. Accossato draws its clutch blades long, and this one has space for four fingers.
Covering the Clutch Through the Turn
Covering the clutch does three jobs. Through the slowest part of a turn, a light pull keeps the engine from stalling when the revs sag or the rear tyre loses drive in a rut. On the exit, a quick slip lets the engine rev up into its strong range, so the bike drives out instead of labouring. And if the front starts to wash, pulling the clutch in disconnects the drive, which can make a slide easier to save. Coaches teach riders to keep the fingers relaxed and the hand on the grip, so that the clutch is there without the arm stiffening. On a KX250F the habit soon becomes automatic.
It also means the left hand is on the lever when the bike falls, and many small crashes in corners end with the KX250F on its left side and the clutch lever against the ground. A solid lever often breaks there, and a 250 four-stroke ridden without a clutch stalls easily in the slow corners. The C7261's joint gives the blade a chance to fold forward, out of the way of the impact, so there is a fair chance of picking the bike up and carrying on. It is not certain, but it suits a riding style in which the clutch is never far from the fingers.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the C7261 for the Kawasaki KX250F from 2005 to 2020, in groups for 2005 to 2012 and 2013 to 2020 plus the 2020 bike under the name KX 250, and fits it at the original clutch mount. On the brake side, the B8262 covers 2004 to 2012 and 2020, and the B8265 covers 2013 to 2020. The 2004 KX250F has no Accossato clutch lever in this range.
Road Approval
There is no documented German ABE for the C7261. It is meant for the motocross track and closed off-road ground.
