DescriptionThe whole story▼
Many Husqvarna FC 250s from the 2016 to 2020 model years are now with their second or third owner, often passed on from riders moving up a class to riders who are just starting out. Anyone who has looked at a few of them knows that the levers tell a story: a clutch lever with a shortened tip, or a bend towards the bar, has met the ground more than once. Accossato's C7284 is a folding clutch lever for exactly those years of the FC 250, CNC-machined in Italy from Ergal 7075, with a long blade that can fold forward instead of snapping.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the Husqvarna FC 250, 2016 to 2020
- Installed at the original clutch mount, replacing the stock lever
- Four-finger blade, the longer of Accossato's two shapes
- Anti-break joint: the blade may fold forward on impact
- Cut from solid Ergal 7075 on CNC machines in Italy
- Black, blue or orange blade on a dark base
- No German ABE documented; motocross and off-road use only
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato sets out three aims for its off-road levers, strength, low weight and reliability, and the choice of material follows from them. The C7284 is cut from a solid billet of Ergal 7075, a high-strength aluminium alloy, by CNC machines in Italy. The finished lever has two components: a dark base mounted on the pivot of the original clutch control, and a blade in black, blue or orange that connects to the base through the folding joint. As a clutch lever, its blade has room for four fingers and is noticeably longer than Accossato's brake lever for the same bike.
What the Levers Say About a Used Bike
When you look over a second-hand FC 250, the controls make a quick first check. Scuffed bar ends, a twisted perch and a clutch lever filed down to a stub all point to a bike that has spent time on its side, which is normal for a motocross machine but still worth knowing. Plenty of buyers replace the levers straight away, along with grips and a chain, simply to start with parts they trust. It is also the right moment to think about how to spare the next owner the same marks.
A folding blade is one answer. On the C7284 the joint lets the blade move forward when the bike lands on its left, instead of forcing the whole impact through the tip, so a crash that would have broken a conventional lever may leave only scratches. It cannot rule out damage, and a big enough hit will bend almost anything, yet over a season of practice it can mean fewer spare levers bought. For a rider who stretched the budget to buy the bike in the first place, that is a welcome saving on a 250 four-stroke that has running costs enough already.
Fitment and Compatibility
The C7284 is Accossato's clutch lever for the Husqvarna FC 250 of 2016 to 2020, and it replaces the lever at the original clutch mount. It is not listed for the 2014 and 2015 bikes or for the 2022 model, which take the C7283, and Accossato lists no clutch lever at all for the 2021 FC 250. The matching front brake lever is the B8283, listed across 2014 to 2020 and 2022. All three share black, blue and orange, so a matching pair is easy to put together.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE on record for the C7284. Like the FC 250 itself, it is intended for motocross tracks and closed off-road ground.
